VT52 terminal emulation software

Postby Zarchos » Wed May 24, 2017 8:50 pm

Spotted in QDBug documentation :
'QDBug allows the use of a remote terminal. Using the serial port, the terminal can be made to display the QDBug screen leaving the computers screen to show the program being debugged. There is currently support for only one type and that is a VT52 terminal with an 80*25 character screen. NOTE: The terminals keyboard is null, QDBug is still controlled from the Archimedes. ) Use the up I down cursor keys to select the function you wish to change.
'

I've never been very interested by software on the Archies using serial port protocols or whatever, so my question is what kind of software could I use on an Archimedes connected to an Archimedes running QDBug to use this functionality ?
ArcTerm ?
Some others, shareware or public domain, you could have in mind ?

Your help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Never had the need for VT52, when I started using modems everyone used VT100/VT102/ANSI. Unfortunately, VT52 is very different from the newer stuff.

Software you could try: Connector, ZAnsi, Grapevine, Nettle (maybe too new for Archimedes), ArcTerm, ArcComm, RISC OS Terminals+.

Ah, I found one which says it supports VT52: Hearsay II by David Pilling! This has been freely downloadable for some time now, source is also available.

Have fun
