I can do you an ANFS ROM, but no spare boards. Best bet for those is CJE? Alas, gone are the days they were doing five for 25 quid, but at a tenner they're not really extortionate.

Cheers Daniel,

I'll check the Master when I get home from work and let you know

Edit: Pretty sure there's no ANFS ROM, however is it just died in a puff of smoke, ANFS is the least of my worries!

Happy to do the PSU but you'll need to get hold of some caps (not something I keep to hand) - the WIMA ones that Maplin used to do won't fit the Master PSU as they're too narrow. I'm guessing someone else will probably have some knocking around?

Much appreciated, if you can point me to the right bits you need, I'll be happy to try and get them in before Saturday, unless someone else will have them to hand.

Is anyone going to be bringing a 'scope? I really would find it very useful is someone was prepared to explain some basic principles of using a 'scope to diagnose faults in Beebs and related kit.

In return, I could offer up my special expertise in body parts.

Also, where are we going for the curry?

Thanks

P.S. Am getting rather excited now. :D

Well said Dave! =D> =D> =D>

As for the curry. The top post was written a while ago and we've usually gone to frankie and bennys when in Bolton. I've been googling places to eat in Bolton and there is plenty of choice if we decide to not use f&b. The main problem is catering for everyone's tastes. I'll try to narrow it down to make the decision a bit simpler once everyone has arrived.

I'm just leaving TNMOC to drive up (hopefully won't hit Friday afternoon traffic around Birmingham)

Where do I go re: curry or are we all meeting at the venue at a certain time

If someone can PM me a mobile number I can pick that up en-route

Cheers :)

I realise this is last minute but I (and maybe my son) might be able to get over there for a couple of hours this afternoon; is that OK and, if so, can someone message me with the address, please?

A successful coding project from ABug North. DNFS 3.02.

DNFS 3.00 contains NFS 3.60 and DFS 1.20. Back in 1990 I wrote a patch to create DFS 1.21 to deal with 3.5" drives timing out. NFS 3.60 has a bug where there is no check for a seperator after *EX so, for example, *EXAM tries to *EX the directory AM instead of running a file EXAM. I've been wanting to find some space to squeeze in a bugfix for this for ages.

To do this I had to optimise some of the DFS half of the ROM. Specifically, I've optimised the UTILS commands, with an additional bonus that PAGE drops by 256 bytes. DFS 1.22 with no other ROMs now has PAGE at &1800.

DNFS 3.02
* NFS 3.62 with bugfix for *EX that checks for seperator after the command
* DFS 1.22 with 3.5" Drive not ready bugfix
* UTILS *TYPE and *LIST don't print a blank line at the end of a file if the file ends with a <cr>
* UTILS optimised so only one page of private workspace claimed, PAGE drops by 256 bytes

Enjoy.

A very interesting meet on the Saturday. Lots of old faces and some new ones.

This time I decided to go retro-Pi and brought my RISCOS machines and the 16x2 display panels. Spent most of the day hacking the driving code to make the things work and eventually succeeded. The problem was that the documented codes in the information I found were slightly inaccurate and misleading. A single bit error produced garbage on the display.

Another problem I had was my new OLED display. This worked great all day and I was on the point of implementing a menu system on the device when my code crashed and I had to do Ctrl-Break. After that the OLED refused to play! :(

Swapping out various components and checking logic signals going to the display I concluded that everything was working except the display. A search on the internet produced a single reference to someone else having this problem. It appears that the OLED displays are not exactly compatible with the LCD ones in that they need initialising differently. To initialise the display one has to activate it, deactivate it and activate again! #-o

It is now working properly and the universe is back in balance.

Great to see everyone yesterday - and good to see so many new faces. Unfortunately didn't make it today in the end, youngest's room being redecorated (by me) and the pressure to finish doing so is not insubstantial!

My personal victory was fixing my single slice RPC which had been misbehaving. I say fixing, it was more remembering that the inside of the case was coated with conductive paint. And realising I'd left the SD-IDE sitting on it. #-o

I've just got back to Sheffield after being turned back at Snake Pass and having to go back and re-try across Woodhead.

Kettle on, copying recently-updated-files from the Compact back onto the server. ;)

Another good weekend. Nice to see the regulars again and good to see so many new faces - hopefully they'll become regulars too! Thanks to Gary for letting us use his premises for the meetups this year, I've never eaten so many biscuits!
I'll start a thread discussing the schedule for next year soon.

Great weekend, and lovely to meet some new faces! Last night's curry was a great success, enjoyed by all!

It's been very productive, IanS had almost fixed my FileStore E01S since Halifax in January, and it miraculously came back to life yesterday, and still works today.

The SCSI2SD board has turned out to be a little marvel, it works with a BBC Micro and (Akhter) host adapter, as well as a range of SCSI podules for the Archimedes. It almost works with the FileStore, and almost certainly would have worked if it hadn't been for all the bugs in the Acorn FileStore formatter - I will get it working eventually!

And Arthur OS 1.20 was seen and used - probably for the first time since 1987!
