Indeed, it did cross my mind after I uploaded the silent version, I am still thinking of changing this video with the Benny Hill music...

Perhaps I'll do it tomorrow...

Thanks for all the updates, it's so nice to see such a wide range of activities.

Kees, looks like you have some cool stuff in the pipeline. :D

Can you say a bit more about Jim Bagley's video player? Is it a port of this:

What sort of screen mode / resolution do you think it will run at on the Atom?

Yep, that's the one. It's running in CLEAR 2 but I'm having some troubles with starting the player. When I start it to play DRAG4, it generates an AtoMMC error $49. When after this error I type A=FIN"DRAG4";SHUT A it is running fine.
The player uses the open_file_read and read_block routines. Here is a test for the player playing some Kung-fu video:

PS It runs fine in Atmulator.

That looks amazing!

What you need for situations like this is an Atom Bus Monitor

Let me know if you would like me to have a go at debugging it. I was just thinking yesterday that what I really need to properly test the Bus Monitor was a real problem that for some reason was not reproducible in Atomulator. Sounds like you have just that.

Yes, this is a real(y nice) problem ... ;)

The Atombus monitor looks promising, it would be great if you could add the Watchr and Watchw instructions. I used these a lot in Atomulator to check all AtoMMC registers.

I've got to admit, this is something I've often thought of implementing for the 6502 (and 6809) using a CPLD and an AVR/PIC/PIC32.

Would be cool also to have it plugged into the CPU socket, or at least to be able to tristate the CPU so that you could do stuff like set all address lines to value X, which is really useful when trying to work out if your address decoding is working. I had an AVR based probe that I knocked up to do this, but it had to drive the phi2 line, I guess using a CPLD / FPGA you do not have this restriction.

Cheers.

Phill.
