Paul, if I were to bring my VELA would you be able to 'show me the ropes' ? :)

I'm not officially exhibiting so I am just bringing the LV-ROM player requiring attention and probably a laserdisc or two.

I can bring the small stock box of Econet modules, clocks etc. in case anyone needs anything.

I'll bring it along - and bring something you want imaged! Obviously protected discs are particularly interesting to look at.

(edit: Same goes for anyone else, I'll image anything you like... Bringing an industrial bottle of iso with me incase any discs disintegrate in my drives...)

Hi,
Could anyone fetch a working Z80 communicator board/cable/ROM??

I have one that doesn't seem to be playing nice, but I don't know which bit is bad :?
I also have no spare Z80A's or whatever the other chip is.... (I have swapped the 6522) but I still don't know if the cable is bad. (It is a brand new 40 way CDROM type IDE cable).

Thanks,

Lee.

Well I have a couple of ROMS here but I don't know if they are the correct ones, or if they are working :D

I have tried messing about with an 8271 equipped beeb this morning and the ROMS I have are marked MCP0.41 that I stuck in the beeb.
I am using a newly purchased 40 way CD ROM cable to connect the communicator.

I am getting various "No Z80" and "Can't Receive" errors so Lord knows which bit is bad??

This one is the one you need. Eprom programmer's buried in the moving aftermath at the moment though.

Well folks,

Wish I could be at the show but distance/time/money all dictate that I cannot, though I'll be there in spirit....so.....would people please take tons of pics/vids and post them to a new thread when they return from the show, it would be awesome to see.

Thanks for whatever you can do.

Ed......:-)

Was this chap 6'5" with glasses and a blue shirt by any chance? If so, yep, that's me and my VP406. :D

Yep!

I can't get round the back of the telly in the room to see if there's a SCART hole, I wanted to try my wonky VP415 which I had to bring as well as the broken one, because a label on it said there were parts missing!

Can't fit it in the car for Wakefield, but there should be a full-size one in Blackpool the week after! ;)

MAYBE even a Tardis too ... ! :)

Hi David, yep - have grabbed the image, writing it to floppy is one of the [many] things on my list of things to do tonight before I leave! ;)

No pressure. I just wanted to make sure you knew it was there. I'm sure there are capable helpers who could write it at the show, if necessary. ;)

Apologies that I'm not there I had intended to be but it ended up clashing with something I had going on in Coventry that meant I couldn't attend.

Won't be able to make Blackpool either as I'll be on the opposite side of the country :(

Have a good time though people.

Cheers.

That was fun :) Great to see everyone and the ridiculous amount of 8 bit and early arc kit. Also the LV-ROM extravaganza!

It was my 6th Wakefield show, but I think it was the best I've been to! The 8-bit room really grabbed everyone's interest, even from the 32-bit lot!

Although possibly the best thing of the day was the RISC-PC cake!

Pictures later.

Before then, and before I forget - several people have asked me for the discs for Level 4 Econet file server. I don't do L4, it's all a bit 32-bit for me, and let me down terribly when I tried to use it in 2006 to archive the Domesday Discs data.

But I've collected bits of things over the years, so I've nailed it all together in one zip file which contains various versions of the L4 server and supplemental disc, Setstation, some modules that some versions of RISC-OS need to get it to run, and probably other things as well.

The other thing I mentioned to a couple of people is that if you didn't see the "Tommy Cooper" programme they did on Granada on Easter Monday, then part of showed an advert break from 1984 with a fragment of the Acorn Electron TV advert, so it's worth watching it to look out for that.
