Dunno. You gonna organise one? You're actually far closer than I am to all the remaining events in the calendar that I've committed to. Retrovision in Oxford isn't too far from you, and a number of forum members (incl. me) have attended that over the last couple of years. Less well attended from this forum, but Sophie Wilson gave a talk at the RISC OS South West Show back in March. Then there's the regular open days at RCM in Leicestershire - a few of us have been to several of those, too. All of those aren't too far a drive. If you really can't make anything unless it's on your doorstep, maybe you could consider organising your own. If you contact Arcadian, he can point you in the right direction on how to get started and put you in contact with ppl who might be willing to help contribute kit. It doesn't have to be huge - you could start by just approaching a local pub ... Sam.

Didn't realise that there was an Oxford meet, will definitely have to catch that one next year. re: organising my own meet is something I've been thinking about, will contact Arcadian tomorrow and have a chat. thanks Sam

Retrovision is a nice little meet - it's a very social event. Starshipuk who frequents these forums occasionally is one of the organisers and has a large historical gaming collection of his own - he also hangs out on the RG forums. He might also be worth chatting to as someone who's organised something in roughly your area.
Both of them have a wealth of experience and will give you some great advice on some of the common pitfalls!
Sam.

So far as I'm aware, this is still on - it's listed in the thelass.co.uk what's on calendar and the date has also been publicised on the new homebrewgaming.co.uk wordpress site, as well as Facebook. The only thing that isn't there, afaict, is online tickets but they might just be charging on the door ...
It sounds to me like there's enough of us that we could all commit to go on the Sat. and, if the HGW doesn't materialise, then we can always just have a day in the pub!
Sam.

Do you know if they need any bits of kit? I work practically next door so it's fairly easy for me to bring in a couple of bits and bobs (an Atom with AtomMMC for example).

I haven't asked the organisers specifically, but we certainly had a massive contingency of people bringing Atom stuff previously. In fact, we gathered some of the finest Atomic minds on the planet collected together at the last event!
If it's not too much trouble, I think there's probably room to bring a computer or two over. If you're really just round the corner, you could always turn up to get the lie of the land and then return to collect what you think you need ...
Tho bear in mind that the Lass is a regular pub and will probably have members of the public floating around during the weekend, so if you're not comfortable with your gear being surrounded by pints, you may have to keep an eagle eye on whatever you bring over.
Personally, I'll be bringing up my standard-issue laptop and USB beeb keyboard.
Sam.

I'm thinking of popping along as IMHO it's a great venue, although since we've got an 8 week old baby now, I might have to bring the family over to Manc and just pop to the lass for a few jars in the afternoon.

The pub's fine with little'uns too, especially the non-mobile variety (ours unfortunately has starting shifting rather rapidly on his legs so it's no go for him now). d.

OK,
Is there anyone coming who might be able to bring a working beeb setup with a 5.25" DFS (and maybe even 3.5" ADFS) disc drive? Or equally a PC that can catalogue DFS / ADFS discs?
I have a bunch of 5.25" and 3.5" discs I'd like to check what's on, and I don't have anything suitable at home. Checking them whilst we're at the pub sounds like as good a time as any to do it, if someone's going to have a machine there I can make use of during the afternoon ...

Sam. I can bring a Master with 5.25" and 3.5" drives if necessary.

If it's no trouble, that'd be great! If you're driving, I assume you know there's a pretty big car park just behind the pub ... ?
