RISC PC two slice pins

Does anyone have a spare set (or know where I can buy... yeah yeah CJE) of two slice pins?

I'm waiting on some IDE extension leads so I can swap between DVD-ROM in slice one and an IDE ZIP100 in slice two. At the moment it's all a bit wobbly when assembled!

Could this be something we could 3D print?

If you're in or near London I'd suggest heading along to the rogul show in Feltham at the end of the month, you may well find some there on the charity stall. Otherwise as you say, it's wait and see what comes up on eBay, see if anyone on here has any (unfortunately mine are holding my second slice on) or pay CJE. I don't think 3d printed would hold up too well (or be that easy to print)

This (and ROM cartridges, etc.) feel like candidates for 3D printing...

Aren't the original ones something weird like glass-cored to give them extra torsional strength? They certainly tolerate a lot more rotational force when being inserted into a badly-fitting case than one would expect from a simple plastic rod.

I don't know what the core was, but it is quite surprising the level of abuse they'll take without snapping. I know the 4 slice ones are metal. I really don't think 3d printed would stand up to that. Perhaps nylon, but I have no experience of it.

I'll have 'standard' ROM cartridge cases by the end of next week. I'll also, of course, make the design files available

Well, the original question was about 2-slice ones...

On the other hand, is my recollection correct (I've never owned a Risc PC) that stacked slices did locate into one another and the pins only provided compression to keep them together and keep the lid on?

If so, then by my reckoning the cross section of the pins down their shaft is unimportant provided it's narrow enough. Maybe there's mileage in cutting a square-section metal rod to length then fixing 3D-printed lumps on the ends?

Rod would work with plastic tops - I have a feeling the 3+ slice ones that CJE sell are bespoke...

Arrived today along with my Pi RTC/Temp and MicroUSB switched cable. I'm very happy with the CJE service on this.

The one and two slice pins are Acorn manufactured and are plastic. The 3 to 7 slice pins were made by Atomwide and are at least 50% metal from the photos CJE have!

Photos I can't put the top in until an IDE extension and 3.5" to 5.25" bay converter kit arrives:
