Just an Intro

Postby paulg » Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:44 pm

Hi All

I posted last week in the hardware section but thought it good practice to come onto the forum with a proper intro.

I have been a BEEB user since the 80s, but never owned one. At the time my school was full of them and Computer Studies was always a mix of programming, Snapper and Chuckie Egg.

My computer history at the time was TRS-80 Model I, An Electron and then an Amga. Ultimately leading to a stream of PC clones. I currently use a Mac for most applications.

I recently got my first Model B and have been re living the fun of simple basic programming - I'm currently scouring the web looking for code to type in and fiddle with. I was so impressed by the Louis Theroux Bot on twitter I wrote my own in BBC Basic - the best Friday night I've had in a long time!

A week or so after my first BEEB arrived, I acquired a second - I was looking for a tape drive and found one supplied with a computer - a cheeky bid resulted in a win and now I have 2. Both Iss 7 from '84 about a month apart in age.

I've recapped the first and will be doing the second shortly.

Since signing up I've been whizzing around the forum learning a lot; In the early days I'll probably have more questions than answers!

Aside from computer I play a little guitar, write a little, read a little and take pictures.
