Intro me

Postby Regj » Thu Oct 26, 2017 3:24 pm

Hi all.
I hail from Staffordshire and am now retired. I have recently got my UK101 back up and running and have turned my attention to the Acorn Electron.
I have bought an Acorn Electron as my next project ( AE was not working but fixed by re soldering the 19v jack on the PSU board :)
After a huge amount of research/googling I now realize there is an avid fanbase of Electron users and electronics experts to boot.
The machine I have is now working but I have no output ports as such (Plus 1 for example) or indeed a joystick interface.

So guys as a baby step, I would like to try making a 'First Byte' style joystick interface card with perhaps a couple of 8 bit 'pokable' ports (for LEDs perhaps).
Now i've searched the web for a diagram and come up with nothing. Of course I've also read almost every post on the site (very interesting reading; I have to say).

I think I need a little guidance though.
So, regarding forum etiquette. Do I create a new thread/post asking for a help or what...

Kind regards,
Reg.

Hi Reg - yeah, go to probably 8-Bit Hardware and start a new thread with your post. You can always be directed elsewhere if there's an appropriate thread already on the go.... 8)

OK thanks, I've started a new thread re the simple joystick/pokable ports idea in the 8 bit hardware area.

Welcome, Regj. :D

The Electron certainly is very popular on the forum.

Anything special about your UK101 you want to share? [-o<

Welcome from another Electron user! :D

There are photos of the First Byte Joystick Interface circuit board at Chris's Acorns but no circuit diagram. Maybe there are owners of the interface who can take higher resolution photos for you.

CMcDougall
Thanks for the welcome.
And yes, it seems it's always a bit of a gamble that the ULA is working OK - mine is an issue 6 board with soldered in ULA.
