Good evening from Northamptonshire

Postby EdwardianDuck » Thu Aug 10, 2017 8:40 pm

Hello,

I’ve been lurking around here for a few months now and as I’ve finally got round to buying a rather nice looking RetroClinic refurbished and upgraded Master 128 via eBay, I thought I’d better sign up as well.

If there are no problems with UPS and the Argos "click and collect" service I should be a proud Acorn owner early next week.

I’m looking forward to exploring the machine and writing some 6502 code for it. I’ve a couple of things from the Atari 8 bit world I can try to port over to get started.

Welcome. There are many more and exciting things that can be added to your shiny new machine.

Have a look at the hardware list, url for which is in signature below.

Welcome.
BeebAsm is a cross assembler for the beeb, as well as my favourite all time assembler; there are some updates and GitHub repos listed around here somewhere.
This Sprite demo with source may help ease you into beeb graphics, if you are used to sprites, rather than a static memory mapped screen.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. That's a nice touch.

I will have to look at BeebAsm. Other than learning about the machine, choosing development tools will probably be the first major step. I'd previously considered either going back to CA65 which I started with about 3 years ago on the grounds that it is platform agnostic, or sticking with MADS on the grounds that there's a lot I like about MADS, although it is somewhat Atari focussed.

And I'll have to look into the whole Raspberry PI as a second processor subject too.

Lots of food for thought.
