Hello from Dublin

Postby oide » Sun Jul 16, 2017 2:34 pm

This is just a quick hello from Dublin. My name is Joe and I am an Acorn User. That's my addiction admission out of the way.

I thought I had joined this board on a stand at the BETT Show back in 2010, maybe 2011. In fact thinking of shows reminds me of Wakefield and that in turn prompts an ever present regret. In 1996 my family and I boarded the ferry to Wales and I drove to the Wakefield Show to give away a boot full of my Acorn BBC gear to the charity stand. They actually wanted me to take the monitors back home to Ireland. I refused and later saw them on sale for £5 each! Now I derive my satisfaction from maintaining and resurrection old Acorns from the four corners of Ireland.

I have boxes of unopened software I bought when the local Acorn dealer ceased trading in 2010. The lock-up has A4000 power supplies, A3010 memory, etc, RISC PC slices and pins, magazines, etc.

As you can see from my retirement cake I have escaped from teaching and I hope to spend more time in my workshop and online.

Packed away until next September.jpg
