There's an hour-long talk here described as a post-mortem on Elite. It's a history, with some technical nods to techniques used for speed and memory saving.

(needs Flash, and he should have turned down the volume of his BeebEm just a tad)

Sort of related, there's a half-hour documentary (maybe from 2008, channel five) featuring both Bell and Braben - less technical than the above. Two parts:

Featuring authentic mono soundtrack! And some words from Chris Curry.

Cheers

Final episode of a series called 'Brits Who Made The Modern World' which aired on Channel 5.

Worth tracking down the rest of the episodes as well. Here's a summary

Episode 1 - Formula One
Five - 20 June 2008

Documentary series looking at the untold stories of British scientists and engineers who developed some of the modern world's most incredible technology. Peter Snow finds out how Britain's successful Formula One industry has its origins in a remarkable amateur racing club and a visionary group of motor enthusiasts. He meets the surviving members of the Lotus Engineering team whose revolutionary car, the Lotus 25, changed the sport forever.

Episode 2 - Tilting Trains
Five - 27 June 2008

Documentary series looking at the untold stories of British scientists and engineers who developed some of the modern world's most incredible technology. Peter Snow introduces the story of the ill-fated Advanced Passenger Train which, despite being deemed a failure, was one of the greatest technological advances on the railways in 100 years. Commissioned by British Rail, the revolutionary trains were designed to tilt around curves. The designers of the experimental APT, Alan Wickens and Mike Newman reveal their story.

Episode 3 - Rockets
Five - 4 July 2008

Documentary series looking at the untold stories of British scientific innovations. Investigating Britain's little-known contribution to the space race, Peter Snow explores the role played by two British engineers in the team behind Black Arrow, and the rocket programme that launched the country's first satellite almost 40 years ago.

Episode 4 - Mobile Phone
Five - 25 July 2008

The documentary series looking at the untold stories of British scientific innovations here focuses on the development of Britain's mobile-phone network. In the early 1980s, a team of engineers developed software that laid out a system of phone masts around the country. Their work helped launch Vodafone - now one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.

Episode 5 - Harrier
Five - 15 August 2008

The documentary series looking at the untold stories of British scientific innovations focuses on the creation of the Harrier jump jet. Peter Snow discovers how the vision and persistence of two young designers led to the development of the world's first vertical take-off aircraft.

Episode 6 - Computer Games
Five - 22 August 2008

The documentary series looking at the untold stories of British scientific innovations focuses on the development of Britain's 1.4 billion pound computer game industry. In the early 1980s, two pioneering Cambridge undergraduates set out to achieve the seemingly impossible task of developing the world's first 3-D computer game.

Thanks - looks like a good series!
Most of them can be found here.
(The Harrier one was interesting - just watched that.)
The Rocket one is proving difficult to find, although there is "Once we had a rocket" (part 2)

(Good thing this thread is filed in Off Topic...)

Cheers
