... but i missing out on them! Recently, the wife and I have been watching the excellent BBC series Ripper Street, and i feel inspired to play a game of this ilk on my elk Anybody know of any Victorian/Jack the Ripper/Sherlock Holmes games for the Electron? adventure, arcade or anything else? Stuart

That's the spirit lad! Mountain Panic is set a little later in the early 1930s, so you might be the first

I thought that Crown Jewels might be set in that period but it's possible that it's set in "modern" London.

I did a walkthrough of that about ten years back - it's in the 'Game Help' section of the website if you get stuck (not that it's a particularly challenging adventure in the first place ...) M.

Actually, Crown Jewels doesn't appear to be the adventure I was thinking of. The one I remembered was described in a walkthrough in Merlin's column in Electron User, I think. You had to drop a vase at some point. As with most adventures on the Electron, I didn't actually play it but still paid close attention to the adventure reviews and hints. It's interesting to try many of these now, after all these years, and see if they lived up to the mental picture I had of them.

ok, i'm not very good at sitting on things when they are buzzing around in my head, so i've switched back on and had another look at the imaged file. for some reason, it still had the .log extension after the .ssd one after i imaged it so i have simply removed that to leave .ssd , it now opens ok in an emulator after imaging it from my actual Electron and physical disc. i havent done much traffic this way so be patient with me if anybody fancies a go with, could you let me know if it opens/loads ok for you, just so i know i've done all this the right way! enjoy ps bugs and spelling/grammer errors-pointing out welcome!! *edit* to save confusion, head over to the Retro Software page for the game to get the latest version

Hi Stuart - the only observation I would make is that I normally recommend forcing a full 200k image of originals (assuming single-sided) just in case there's any data hidden further on in the disc that doesn't have a catalogue entry. You're probably fine but I would suggest you use *UPXSSD 0 F to guarantee a full 200k duplicate of the disc surface.

Hi Martin, sorry about that okie dokie, i've re-done that bit and i will put that up for download instead of the other one. I still had to rename the file to take off the extra .log extension from the .ssd - i followed the instructions in the UPURS guide though.. where am i slipping up?

Is the pc software you are using adding the .log extension automatically? There is probably a setting to change in order to stop it doing this.

When you go through the choose log file process, make sure the filter is set to *.* instead of *.log. That should stop .log from being appended.
