Games That Were Lost

Postby BBC 128K Fan » Mon Sep 12, 2016 10:38 am

Hi everyone :)

I was trying to transfer some old Beeb discs onto the emulator, but the files have either failed or the discs just wont work anymore (I guess they are really, really old!).

There are a few games I wanted to transfer. Can any one assist with any of these files, in SSD format?

Horoscope

Fire (rescue people from a building)

World Cup 86 (text based soccer game)

Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Free (platform game)

Air Strike

Paris (puzzle game)

Pelmanish (puzzle game)

Nim (puzzle game)

Telemark (game where you run a tv factory)

I also have a non working file called Quand2

Thanks for your help(s) and all the best to you all :)

Telemark is part of "Business Games", by Acornsoft, which is apparently available in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5011&start=30 as part of Elite_etc.zip.

Thank you very much for that link to Telemark. I appreciate that. I'll try the ROM later. That's one game down and a few more to go =D> :)

All the best

Air Strike is probably the type-in from Micro User and can be found on my disc here.

 Was this ever released for the Beeb? Could it have been a C64 disk instead? :-k

Air Strike
************
Thanks for the link - yes, I think you're right about that one. I found a cover for it here, which does say on it that theyy were typed programs: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/cgi/ ... BC%20Micro

FGTH
*******
That could exp[lain why I can't find it. I think the disk had the word 'Frankie' on it as a file name and I may have assumed it was the band - it must have been something else. Never got it running.

Really apreciate the support - thanks :)

Fire sounds like the Rob Northern game (aka Fire Rescue).
Is Free the same game as The Last Of The Free by Audiogenic as that was a platform game?

regards,
Mick.

PS Fire is on my Disc 067 and Last Of The Free is on Disc 031 in the 30th Anniversary thread on the forum (if that helps you!).

The only Frankie that I'm aware of is an adult demo that can be found on my disc here.

NIM maybe on here, also from Micro User.

UPDATE:

You have all been very helpful in helping me track down a few missing discs :D

I just wanted to repost an update of the discs still required:

Horoscope

World Cup 86 (text based soccer game)

Paris (puzzle game)

Pelmanish (puzzle game)

I also have a non working file called Quand2 ... perhaps this was Quandam? If so, Quand2 would not be required.

Have a good day :D

There's a Pelmanism at
viewtopic.php?p=46255#p46255
Are you sure it's Pelmanish you seek?

Could your World Cup 86 actually be Mexico 86 found here?

Was Frankie really what you were looking for?

Hello again :D

Thank you so much once again for helping me - I totally appreciate it =D> =D> =D> =D>

Pelmanism - you are probably right; I can't read my own handwriting!

I'll check out World Cup. It was a text based game - if this isn't it then it may have been WC82, which I think was text based?

Thanks also for the Horoscope one.

The original Frankie disc file was a bad file so I never got it to run, and I just assumed it was the FGTH band tie in game - I'll give that one a miss.

Hey! That just leaves the mystery game title 'Paris (puzzle game)'.

Great work and thanks again :D :D :D :D

I don't know what the game was about. The file name is Paris and doesn't work.

Any takers?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm affraid it is a very dead disc that is also damaged beyond playability, so that isn't possible.

:)
