Re: Resurrecting a dead A3010

I think the drive flash pattern's dictated by the ROM isn't it? d. I remember reading somewhere that the ROM checksum error flashes can be invoked without the roms fitted but can't seem to find the link to that suggestion. So you are right; I'm not 100% certain on that.. I think you are confusing w...

Re: Differences between AKF50 and AKF52

I have just fixed an AKF50 received from Germany. Strange beast. Switch on / off is reversed. Ugly fix inside on a small daughterboard with lots of wires to go to various places on the motherboard. This daughterboard was held in place by one of its pins behind soldered to the motherboard, but since ...

Both are multiscan monitors and can display up to 800x600, but what makes the AKF52 a superior monitor ?

Re: Resurrecting a dead A3010

I did that (and wrote it). The mainboard is extremely clean. In the battery area only a few squared millimeters directly at the vertical of the battery, on the motherboard, were affected so no worry on this side. Which procedure should I follow now ? Is there sthing more obvious to do 1st ? I ask th...

Agreed.

About the DOMs it is interesting to note that it s been designed to replace hard drives in 'industry conditions' thus there is not the issue with either CF or SD cards not thought to be accessed to on an aggressive basis ...

Re: Wanted - A3000 IDE podule

From China the DOM costs less than 20 euros inc. shipping ... if you buy a few and negotiate the price it will easily be under 12 each. The ribbon must be 4 euros and the male to male adaptor less than 50 cents if you order 10. The problem here is you don't always know what you're getting, and what...

Re: A3010 hard disc interface

Actually a podule would suit my purposes, but I can't seem to find any for the A3010 on Ebay. Do you know of anywhere else that has them? No expansion connector at the back of the A3010 or A3020, contrary to the A3000 ... so no full size podule. Acorn has been really mean on this. I wonder if there...

It won't work on the A3000 as it doesn't have the requisite controller IC unfortunately. Have a look here: http://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=12884 d. Thank you for the answer.... so the ARM2 hasn't the IC like the Arm250 one? But no DIY project for a IDE podule for the A3000? i'...

You must make the difference between Acorn IDE and other manufacturers', where it can be up to 8 IIRC with the Simtec podules or minipodules, for example.

Thanks for your fast answers.
I have started with continuity check and already found 2 tracks cut (one of them is the nearest to the battery).
Now preparing one litre of coffee to fight for little A3020 (working in the yard, and I can tell you today it is going to be very hot).
