Re: AP6 curious behaviour

On a serious note, as shown on the facebook group I love the acorn electron, we have made some progress transferring adfs disc images to the CF HD Interface connected to the AP5. I'm finding it very easy to use a BeebSCSImini and AP3/4 to transfer/archive all my discs - just soooo much storage =D> ...

Re: Going great guns on a Prince of Persia port...

Just like to 'chip-in' here and really ask a question that I already know the answer to - but what the Hell! How about an Electron with Turbo, shadow RAM and AP6 with lots RAM (extra 112K!) - could also add 2 x ABR giving a total of 176K of sideways RAM :D  Always worth a punt . . . Dav...

I use some Contact Cleaner Wipes, that I picked-up on eBay. They are for cleaning high current contactors. Soaked in IPA plus a lubricant that is left behind, once the IPA has evaporated.

That's why the AP5 supports a RAM overlay and Bank Paging e.g. you get another 16K of code to play with - similar to CC's Interword etc.

@Tim - can I just check - were they a little too far apart on yours? I make the spacing 3.44ish cm, which on the grid is 3.429 - I suspect this is right... d. Do your measuring in 1/10th inch - probably to the nearest 1/20th inch - then convert to mm, if you have to! < it's more accurate! All early...

Re: Elk ACP3 and ACP4 Floppy Interface

Thanks. I had an issue with my emulation, moving the DFS and RAM to QA=0 seems to have fixed it. Also the ADFS wouldn't initialise, seems it's fussy on what is returned on reading &FCC0. I was returning the contents of the control register but I see it's not decoded so returning &FF fixed i...

Are you sure this isn't olverlaid to provide DFS/ADFS workspace? You could try using ADT's *MEX command.

That would make since, as QA isn't connected - A16 - counting from the +5V (the short one) on the component side. I probably didn't have a pin spare on the PLDs!

Ray . . . Not read the whole thread, however, if you're using ABR or AP6, with a locking mechanism, then you may need to do what Rob Northen did with the E00 version of ADFS where the ADFS code was in one bank and the ADFS workspace was in the other bank. Effectively he had an unlock sequence in two...

No, I'm re-engineering the original one. I do have some details, from the time is was designed, however, not enough to completely rebuild it without some reverse engineering.
