Not a bad little game this one. Smooth, bit of variety in the alien patterns and the different alien weapons.

I had one of those BITD, but it was text-only when I got it. 640K ram, twin floppy, 10Mb hard drive, green screen.

Added a Hercules card and <gasp> had graphics.

All long since skipped. #-o :(

There isn't really an admin back end for the bbcmicro site. I have to use SQL for most updates. I think writing a friendly user interface with user permissions, input validation and error checking will take more time than I have available This is on my TODO and promised  list but time and dis...

Beebug - probably because it felt "home-brew" and you were part of a club and there were lots of little hints & tips and things to try.

Also got The Micro User; a friend got A&B and after that there was no pocket money left (had to buy games, too!)

Think page 196?

Note that the ULA appears in every 16 byte block of page &FE. Writing to &FE02 is therefore exactly the same as writing to &FEA2 or &FE32 etc.

GNNNARRR only got past 1000 once let alone in the high score table. Keep getting "stuck" one key tap away from changing direction in the pseudo-3D and while I'm hammering the keys trying to unglue myself along comes a monster. (Might be the emulator's or the game's fault but more likely to...

Hi. Someone will come along with a better answer, but I think (haven't used RISCOS in a while) that you have to set the RISCOS file type? This doesn't quite explain it, I'll see if I can find something better: http://www.apdl.org.uk/riscworld/volumes/volume4/issue2/files/index.htm So, if you receive...

I can give it a go on OpenBSD and Raspbian ... but are there any instructions or should I look for a README?

The Autotools are dark magic I delve into every now and then and then I wander off a sad and non-the-wiser man.

So is it ./configure, make etc. or a bit more?

VDU 21 would be VDU &15, and to clear screen is VDU 12 or VDU &0C. (Not trying to be clever but trying to avoid confusion.)

Re: BBC Micro: Hiding Program Listings?

Ah, bit more information in Birbaum's Assembly Language Programming for the BBC Microcomputer . 2nd Edition, pp. 189, discusses RETRIEVE a program to try and restore a mangled BASIC program. It says a line is stored as 0D start of line (so that's the 13 at PAGE, &1900, above) 00 0A (two bytes fo...

Perhaps someone should take me through what happens when a program is loaded into memory, so I can best understand why, in REM statements, this would even have any effect. Don't worry too much about obscuring the listing for now, let's just make a listing beep with VDU 7. So your listing in memory ...
