Re: PRES AP3 Floppy Disk Drive

Thanks, guys.

Looks like I've been mixing up terminology as well?

The PSU is the box with/on the cable, and then that connects to the regulator board? So my photo of the regulator board NOT the PSU?

Re: PRES AP3 Floppy Disk Drive

Thanks, Mark, this is what the PSU looks like (don't know if a useful photo). Tried an Electron & Plus 3 power connector (just for size, not powered on) and they both seem a little too big to physically insert (didn't push too hard.) IMG_6543s.jpg (It's been discussed before but I'm not 100% sur...

Had the Hobbit BITD but can't recall it crashing. But didn't get very far through it (or any adventure game!) Are you saying it crashed BITD or that you've recently got a version of it and it's crashing a lot? On real machines or emulators or both? There's probably a walkthrough for it so might not ...

Thanks, guys. I did try the switch multiple different ways and the notes talked about polarity (but the illustrated switch was quite different to the pushbutton one supplied); will have to have another go and try with the multi-meter. I got it working on the right side but as soon I as soldered it (...

I'm curious as to how long the effect lasts - will it discolour again and if so how quickly? There seems (as usual!) to be a debate on the internet.

Re: Looking for a single keyswitch off a broken Beeb

It's an odd numeric keypad, what with the comma there, but I suspect it's modelled on a data entry terminal where you enter big numbers with commas in a ledger, like "10,000.50" or some such. Don't some countries use comma for a decimal point? But don't think likely they would have been a...

I'm no hardware expert but burning smells and rattling parts don't sound good! Forget the computer side for a bit - does the tape recorder work in itself? Go back a few steps. Can you record & playback yourself speaking? If no, then that's the first problem to solve, before you connect to the BB...

I go for the connector as well - not had a huge amount of experience here but cleaning the connector and getting some screws did seem to help.
