Re: Datacantre troubles creating real disks
Hi Lee Yes, here's what I did, I ended up having to write it down as it proved too much for my feeble brain  <Insert real floppy into drive 0> *FORM 40 0 *EXPORT -D0 BLANK40.SSD *IMPORT -1 BLANK40.SSD *IMPORT -0 PANIC.SSD *RAM *COPY 0 1 *.* *EXPORT -1 PANIC40.SSD *IMPORT -D0 PANIC40.SSD Here, I...

Re: Datacantre troubles creating real disks
Hi
Not sure if it's related but when I used the DataCentre to create Mountain Panic images, I had to first create a 40 track 100K blank SSD, import that, copy the files to that image, then export that image at 100K from the DataCentre.

Thanks fella. Although I wrote the game, I had nothing to do with posting it out to you - must've been Samwise or Arcadian that did that

Yeah wouldn't mind a copy of that map myself! It's currently burnt into my brain but I expect it'll vanish at some point, things don't usually stick around too long in there

Re: Mountain Panic available at Play
Thanks for the positive feedback, it's great to read. It can be really difficult after working on something on and off for years to judge how it actually plays! I will look into the joystick issue, we did test on both BBC B, Master and Master Compact (even B+ I think). Apologies for that problem, I ...

Ah! Cool. (He wouldn't be 'Zynx' by any chance?) I'd quite understand if he considered it rather strange or perplexing for someone to remake one of his works, some 23 years later... in BASIC, on the same platform. I regret my choice of music somewhat -- it's a great track (as are many others by Jog...

I believe you can order by emailing either Dave or Pete
But the retrosoftware site really needs a 'shop' section where you can buy the games from.
It's frustrating having written a game to hear that people are having trouble getting it

Hi all
Does anyone have a real BBC Master Compact, with joystick, for some last minute compat testing?
I just want to send an SSD image over and get it checked out for any issues.
Please PM me if you can help
Thanks

Edit: Aha, I see you have done, elsewhere on your blog! Nice!

I have an external retro clinic CF system going spare if you want it. It's as new, it might need some software support such as a Rom (can't remember) but that's easier than getting a new CF box!

Re: How To Write Adventure Games by Peter Killworth
I've just found this in my pile of stuff, I was going to put it on eBay but I've started reading it and it's not that bad really. Not really one for the text adventure but it's quite a comforting read
