I've got some of those I did for Teletext Advent Calendar last year.

I have pictures I have converted to BBC Micro Screens that would be ideal for this thread if it didn't feel like cheating when there is software that does it for you.

What do others think?

Re: The Savestate thread!

Interesting thread.

I do recall once finishing Imogen. That had quite the ending. Very cinematic from what I remember.

Haven't played it for some time so it would be worth taking it on again.

Saved states a must I would have thought.

Provisional STL DDFS 2.0 User Manual

I have painstakingly scanned in the above named document. I have also manually typed it back in (which was always going to be quicker than trying to use OCR) along with most of the errors. I'll leave it up to the viewer to correct anything found (if they wish). I'm happy to attach both the PDF and T...

Ah, I misunderstood.

My Viglen case was an old AT PC one.

Worked quite well as a base for the monitor to sit on, but not very accessible.

As a non-member of the forum you have linked to all I get is an error page (as I don't have rights to view anything). Strangely, though, I did have one of my BBC Micro machines in a Desktop Viglen case though. Would be interesting to see how well it had been done. Mine was only very simply inserted ...

OCR of magazine listings

I'm on a few groups on facebook in the Speccy scene and I was musing about the possibility of OCRing listings from magazines so as to avoid typing the listings in by hand. It may be of interest to members here also, so I thought I'd mention it here. I have tried a couple of free OCR programs for Win...

BeebEm 4.1.4 has stopped working

Hi Up until recently I was quite happy using BeebEm on my laptop. For about a couple of weeks (it's hard to pinpoint exactly when) I have been unable to run it. A window appears, but doesn't go right through to boot. A part of the first "Boo" from the "Boo Beep" sound is heard, b...

There'll be some space on the ROM to store some RFS files so I thought it would be a good idea to include palettes that I use for certain games. I've currently got Firetrack, tricky's Frogger, Stryker's Run, Snapper and Acornsoft Snooker but if anyone has suggestions for games/palettes that they'd ...

Yes, I believe when it reads a sector that would usually give a disk error it then writes it back to the disk (in effect refreshing the formatting).

Re: Huge bundle of goodies to go through

With Solidisk DFS ROM's (at least the 2.x series) they normally have the disk size at the top of the *CAT output, in hex sectors. So, 80 track single density (80*10=800) will say "&320 sectors" A 40 track single density will say "&190 sectors" An 80 track double density ...

I wouldn't use alcohol handgel on it, it's got all sorts of things in it (oils, moisturisers etc). Best not to use cotton buds either :? Isopropyl alcohol and a lens tissue or chamois tipped swab ideally... If a disk died from reading it, it's because it was disintegrating or oddness from the hand ...

Re: Huge bundle of goodies to go through

It would appear that the two drives on this machine are able to work with 40 or 80 track disks without touching anything. Maybe that is something the Solidisk DFS does by autosensing the format somehow. They started having trouble reading so I used the best alcohol I could find (neither of us drink ...

I forgot to mention, at least one of the disks when *CATted gives two pages of files on the screen (with a pause between). I believe it is using a version of Solidisk DDFS. I've recently become the owner of a Music 500 system and Symphony 4000 keyboard, along with a whole bunch of floppies and manuals.
