Re: Writing Archimedes HD disks with OmniFlop

Also you may get better results if you format the HD disk on an Archimedes first. OmniFlop formatting is not 100% reliable.

Ha ha! I had this problem too because I forgot how the RTOOL program works.

Load the image into the buffer first then write to EEPROM. It works a treat.

Re: Filesystem interchangeability?

I have experience of using a Castle IDE interface mini-podule with a 300Mb real HDD or a SD card reader based on the 1306 chipset (these latter are almost unobtainable now). Both worked really well and appear as ADFS drives. I have also used a Watford IDE mini podule interface from IFEL with a CF ca...

Re: New laptop

The DRIBBLE OS. I remember that one well!

It has a very simple command set. All commands are prefaced by "BLAH" and followed by a bash on the keyboard. The more complex commands include "BLAH, BLAH, bash" and "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, bash, BLAH".

Re: 40

Why use Linux?

RISCOS pico boots in an instant and runs BBC BASIC natively on a Pi zero. The built-in assembler will allow bare metal programming of the GPIO pins so modules could be built to provide I/O connectivity.

Now one will have a 'super-beeb'. [-o<

Well, I can dream ...

Sherston: Invisible Ink

This is one of several titles for which I had the documentation but not the software.

Thanks to billcarr2005, who had the software, here is the compete package including documentation.

Re: Educational Archive not in STH

After a long weekend examining and archiving the haul of floppy discs I obtained at the WROCC Show 2018 I have managed to complete the archive of Sherston: Typesetter! My notes show that I started this title back in 2014. I was missing the FONTS and USER discs and so the title remained until the WRO...

Re: WROCC Show 2018 Archives

I have now completed the archiving of the floppy discs. Over 200 of them! Perhaps this could be called the DN Baron collection after the collector/originator of all the software. The archives attached below are in no particular order and include mixed content. Each archive contains a csv file listin...

Re: Buying software on 'vintage' floppy diskettes

I have just archived over 200 5.25" floppy discs which I obtained from the WROCC Show 2018. There were about 20 useless ones in there. By useless I mean discs which had surface damage visible to the naked eye, traces of 'disc fungus' or ones which threw up disc errors and which would not re-for...

Re: WROCC Show 2018 Archives

The physical discs are variable in quality depending on how they have been stored. Some of the worst discs have a 'look' about them. There are less than 10% damaged and these all came from two boxes. So far I have checked about 150 discs, archiving where necessary. When I have finished I shall dispo...

Re: Educational Archive?

I like the idea of a different entry page for the educational software as this clearly differentiates educational from gaming although there is some overlap when considering educational games. I remember BITD I used The Sphinx to teach problem solving and logic to my students; when students were all...

WROCC Show 2018 Archives

I was lucky enough to obtain a couple of hundred 5.25" floppy disks all of which contained educational or 'serious' software at the WROCC Show 2018 from the charity stall. The discs all appeared to be from one collection from someone who worked for the Leeds LEA. Some of this software was 'LOL ...

On RISCOS 3.1 there is a limit of 77 files per directory. How many in 3.7?

Some more info about the disc in question here http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2457&start=2730 From experience of archiving BBC software very few 5.25" discs are unreadable if they have been kept in a warm dry place. I obtained about 200 or so last weekend at the W...
