Re: Mac Acorn Emulators

Hi everyone,
I have managed to get BeebEm running that way, thanks for your help. Also, I have realised ElectrEm's task bar is at the very top of the screen - like all Mac programs! #-o But there is still no sound - and I don't know why.

Mac Acorn Emulators

Hi all, I have just bought my first ever Mac (MacBook Air, 128GB, new) and despite using Apple products, I am completely lost on it! The first thing I did after setting it up was download ElectrEm (naturally :D ), but I'm having problems. Half the time I run it the Electron doesn't come on - it hang...

That's what I was referring to, and I'm determined not to lose it! :? I suppose it's not expensive really, but it doesn't compare to some bargains that have been had on eBay.

I'm afraid Dave that that just flew right over my head! There is one on eBay atm, however. A tad expensive, but I'm determined to have it!

I'd think so too, and no I don't have the cartridges :-/. I suppose there's something to be said for original things too. It's a real pain, I somehow missed View and Viewsheet going together on ebay!

Electron View/Starword

Hi all,
Does anyone have a View or Starword (or equivalent) cartridge to sell me? With my printer, I'm trying to use my Elk seriously, but Mini Office isn't cutting it!

Thanks

Re: What's your favourite Acorn magazine?

I've only read one 1984 edition of Acorn User, but I thought the reviews section was very good. For instance they had screenshots, and Elk User wasn't doing that at the time. None of the magazines went into too much detail though - and certainly none were like the Spectrum's Crash. I like the style ...

What's your favourite Acorn magazine?

I can't find any other topics about this, so I'd like to know - what's your favourite Acorn magazine? Being an Electron user, Electron User is my clear favourite (and I'm relatively close to having them all). I'm always jealous of the length and colour of the other mags though (barring BeebBug!).

Electron Plus 3 Won't Format Discs

Hi all, I've recently been unable to format a disc with my Plus 3. I've tried many different discs and different sizes, and even re-formatted already formatted ADFS discs, but to no avail. I've been using the Welcome disc's EFormat program, and it seems to format the discs OK, but when it comes to v...

TheClue- any cassette deck will work, if you have the BBC lead, and any 9v psu will work - MegaDrive, Spectrum, et all.

Thank you for looking for me! It always amazes me how helpful people are on here. I have had an offer of £25 rejected, I thought I'd come here before offering any more (max £30). BTW, does anyone have the centronics printer lead too?

Re: Acorn Electron Joystick Interface

1024MAK, I did have a Plus 1, but I found it made the Elk far too big with the Plus 3! Wookie, that's very kind of you, and I might have to take up the offer, but if anyone else had one now that'd be great. Unlike some, I much prefer a joystick to the keys!

Thanks,
Sonny

Re: Electron Games that use Palette or Mode switching

I haven't played it on the Electron, but every screen shot I've seen seems to have Sphere of Destiny with one line of Mode 6 text, and some have palette change too.

Is this effect really seen on the Elk or is it just on the BBC?

I think Plan B has good music, as does Tynesoft's Phantom. Hostages has music throughout, but is rather earsplitting!

Hi,
I am looking to buy a Windows 98 PC off someone? Preferably with a monitor and keyboard. It would be nice if it had some software on it too, like Office, or games. I'll pay a reasonable price!

Is it possible to save programs in Elkulator?

Hi,
In Elkulator or ElectrEm, is it possible to save your own programs and files on a virtual disc? I would like to use an EU program to create teletext-ish screens, and it saves them to disc? Or can you only load discs.

Thanks
