Re: Building a BBC

Will check S26 and I hadn't noticed S21 was missing.
I will swap the 6522's and resit other IC's with sockets.
Thanks for the replies,

Building a BBC

I am building a BBC from some spare parts. However, the motherboard is not playing ball. The seller claimed it was from a Torch pack. I have read the Torch install instructions - it has the DFS installed but just a standard 1.2 OS not a riser board. There is a cut off cable on IC76, possibly from a ...

Re: GoSDC for Electron and adfs issue

My GoSDC is now in my Master Compact but previously it was on an Electron. I had no problems with loading and running ADFS and DFS images. I think I only had one active at any one time. It can run a 2 x 640K ADFS image. Unfortunately I can't remember the configuration I had on the Electron GoSDC. As...

BBC Mouse operation

I have written some software to work with a mouse using J.G. Harston's MOUSROM which uses ADVAL, INKEY or OSWORD 64 to retrieve the values and which works fine. I thought I would try to find out how the mouse worked. I have set &FE62=0 and read &FE60. This uses bits 5-7 for the button presse...

Re: BBC PSU problem?

Next thing to replace would be C9, which can cause this exact symptom. If that doesn't help then it's probably the chopper transistor. Dave Replaced the C9 and now all is working fine. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I have had several C1 & C2's go but never a C9 so I did not bother to ...

BBC PSU problem?

I have a BBC that arrived with a blown C2 capacitor. I replaced C1 & C2 and the psu gives 4.96v at the leads. However, when connected to the motherboard multimeter probes to the base of the connectors only gives 0.76v, the beeb shows no signs of life. :( Is this another psu problem? Does that vo...

Re: MMC connected to something other than user port?

There is a version of MMFS for the Electron that enables the MMC card interface to connect to the printer port with a modification to provide the 5v power.
I don't know how easy it would be to convert that for the beeb or master which probably use different addresses and also provide the 5v power.

Re: Electron Plus 3 RAM/ROM board problem

Incidentally, unless you have a lot of practice, the best way to remove a DIL chip from a two or more layer PCB (including double sided PCBs) is to cut each pin of the chip as close to the top of each pin as possible. Then remove each pin from the board one at a time. This minimises the risk of dam...

Re: Electron Plus 3 RAM/ROM board problem

Ray, what did you use to cut the chip pins? Can you post a picture of the tool you used please. When you cut the legs, did you cut near the board, or near the top of the leg of the chip? Only, it is unusual to damage tracks under a DIL chip unless an attempt is made to desolder the chip. Mark Image...

Re: Electron Plus 3 RAM/ROM board problem

If you have the appropreate equipment to remove the chip it may be the way to go, if you think you can do so without damaging it any further (if it is damaged). Removing the IC would at least make any damage under the chip visible, as there wouldn't be a chip in the way. But you would then need to ...

Re: Electron Plus 3 RAM/ROM board problem

Another thought.
The instructions refer to removing IC9 instead of the wiring pins 3,13 & 7.
If I removed IC9 might this make damage to the tracks to IC9 irrelevant?
At worst it would make accessing the tracks possible since I guess the damage is from the cutters and underneath the chip.
