Re: Screaming CUB monitors

Even in my 30s I could hear crt’s I always put it down to wearing glasses most of my life, I.e. rubbish eyesight, good hearing. But not used a crt for well over 10 years. Will have to go round listening to people’s crts at abug south to see (hear) how my hearing has degraded over the last decade.

OOh. You went for the Gigatron. I looked at these but really expensive and limited what you could do with it at the moment. Maybe one for a later date.

After reading this I thought I would have a play, As Mac version seemed busted I thought I would try compiling Linux Arculator to see how it works, but while it compiled (I after I fudged shift4 and shiftmem to static) that seems to stack dump, will have to go chase davidb why that is happening at s...

Great thanks. Perhaps I need another Pi 3B+ then. Trouble is I already have 15 RPIs. Perhaps I shall have to have a clear out soon!

Is there any speed benefit using the 3b+ ? I have a couple of them but they are being used for other things currently. My pitube is still a pi2.

Re: No more leaded solder

It is usually the flux that smells rather than the hot metals bits. Do you have a fume extractor or a large blower. They do make a difference, my Aoyue iron has built in extracotr, just dumps the fumes a few feet from me, but makes a huge difference, I know becuase it is blocked at the moment so I h...

Think I missed all the good stuff, I picked up a couple of Aurdio projects. Might go back when I have more time, if they haven’t gone by then. Edit: picked up a cheap signal generator kit, don’t have one and thought it would be interesting to play with, rather than by an expensive one when I don’t r...

I am sure everything is written somewhere,it is the finding it that is that hard bit. Even when it turns out where you expect it to be :)

I spent weeks looking for a very expensive ultralight rain jacket, found it months later (yesterday)=... exactly where it should have been.

As an aside what form does the SRAM take? I had assume it was the 32k SRAM hack http://www.retroclinic.com/acorn/swr/swr.htm but if surviving a power off must be something else.

I am sure Hoglet will have a better answer but could you not just trace back power from pi, shift board to Beeb?

No light means no correct supply of power. Even a non booting pi should have a red light.

Cool, I missed this topic before. I do actually have a deltronics box in the cupboard, always what I could actually do with it. Deltronics boxes come up reasonably regularly on eBay. This could actually create a demand for them. (Of course as mentioned above some other hardware could be used but thi...
