Re: EEPROM for BBC micro

Would some series resistance, in the cable leads, help? Something like 47R to 100R - May just take away enough of the 'ringing' to get everything working!

Re: Repairing a broken Archimedes A3000 ... Update 19.04.2017 - all keys are working - CMOS is dead

The middle trace of the 3 traces from the top of CMOS-chip might be broken, as I don't see solder-ring on top of it (at the end of the trace, where there is inlet/duct). I cannot dive into it properly, until next week... Sounds like you've a few links to attach - Your A3000 will be joining a club t...

First - Welcome to the Forum, MSuomi . . . Enjoy . . .

Next - Have you reset the CMOS by holding the DELETE key down when powering up - keep it held down until everything settles.

Re: EEPROM for BBC micro

When using an EEPEOM are you suppressing R/nW e.g. with a link or other method - or is it held high permanently? I ask as you stated: "- measured pin 27 (directly on the chip which is mounted in the viglen case): it is high (proves that nWE is high)" If the EEPROM is seeing a Write signal ...

- Tin all the contacts on the Electron side with solder, to make them slightly thicker and provide a better contact surface. NO! Please don't do that - you'll just make it far worse, in the long run! The contacts, in the Plus 1 edge connector, are so designed that you can't stress them! (OK...

Re: P.R.E.S. AP5 - Original and Re-Design

Hi Dave H, Very minor comments. The decoupling capacitor loop area can be reduced for some of the ICs. e.g. I'd like to see an extra GND via just above pin 1 of ROM1/3 to improve the ground return for the decoupling cap. Similar for the 6522, IC2, IC4 . IC2 silk label appears to have gone for a won...

I use ViewMate to check the Gerbers with the Drill files added. You can also view the ODB++ files too. These may be easier to load and view as they come as a complete package. Note: You have to Import the above files. Import the Gerber files first. Select the next empty position (at the left hand si...

Re: P.R.E.S. AP5 - Original and Re-Design

I don't quite understand the IIC connector and how it is meant to work. If PA1 and PA7 are the IIC bus then the 4K7 resistors are a bit large if external 2K2 pull up are used. That header is for connecting to a serial port to support UPURS. It's actually to support MartinB's IIC project :D see here...

Re: P.R.E.S. AP5 - Original and Re-Design

The bad news is that as soon as a started trying to implement the "MMC" mode, I realized that to switch between EEPROM/RAM at &3600 within a ROM slot the CPLD logic needs to see A(8)..A(13). #-o There are plenty of spare I/Os on the CPLD, but I suspect that connecting six additional a...
