Re: MAME: Click (and other large ROMs)

Amazing what you find when time is spent looking... The documents recently posted at http://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=11795&p=190983#p190983 provide the following: The ROM/RAM page address register is Read only at &FCFC and is defined as follows: Bit 7 6 5 4 3 > 2 bit RA...

MAME: Click (and other large ROMs)

Does anyone have any technical details on how Click paged it's 32K ROM and 32K RAM? From a quick look at the ROM it looks like it's in 8K chunks and maybe paged with writes to &FCFC.

Re: Clock Signal: now also for Linux and BSD

So there's a genuine attempt to apply what I understand to be the received wisdom. I'll start with a forum search, possibly I'm behind. The only detailed discussion I could find is at http://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1178&start=30, which your current implementation is based ...

Re: Clock Signal: now also for Linux and BSD

I haven't tried this (no Mac) but am curious how your Electron reports BASIC with *ROMS in Advanced ROM Manager. A photo at http://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12677#p166755 reports it in page 10, but both Elkulator and MAME report page 11. Also tried ElectrEm but didn't like me try...

The imaging program just wrote the previous good sector.

Thanks for those. It looks like Problem Solver 1.0 is corrupt though, causes errors when running some of the exe's.

Re: Image rotation

There are unofficial patches and plugins out there, but (as previously mentioned by admins) installing these make upgrades a lot more difficult. Since we're on phpBB 3.1.x we don't use plugins that patch code anymore. We now have extensions that rarely affect upgrades. I linked to an extension earl...

Depends on what you want for it, but yes I'm sure there's interest here if it's different from what we have.
If you're giving it to the community then I'll gladly take it, and anything else, to image and share.

Re: Misc BBC/Electron Roms, for checking

As to the ROM images, I checked 525 and 527: 527 is 32K, first half is identical with 525 so is Challenger 2.00, will be interesting to check that out, then the 2nd half of 527 is "CHADFS 300M (C) Slogger 1987". So finally ADFS for the challenger. Might be the first time ADFS becomes pala...

Re: Tape protection systems

Also I had the feeling that jsBeeb is the only one of the BBC emulators that really tries to decouple reconstructing a tape signal from a UEF and how the BBC hardware interprets a tape signal, rather than just spiriting complete bytes directly from the UEF to the 6850. But that might be an outdated...

Re: Misc BBC/Electron Roms, for checking

Thanks, that's a great collection. Lots of Electron expansion ROMs, some clearly meant for ROMBOX and ROMBOX+ too. Also interesting to see Starspell/View and Starspell/Starword combos were available in combined 32K ROMs. There's also the later versions of DDOS 3.x6 which I can easily add to MAME. Th...

Re: MAME: Emulating FDC Boards

I'm able to duplicate the issue, but can't see how it's specifically BBC related. I need to do some more testing with both FM and MFM formats, and also try saving from other machines (Atom and Dragon should be good test cases).

Decided to revisit this and now have it working:

Having never implemented a 8272 before I wasn't aware of the significance of the TC strobe. I added a pulse on the TC line when reading &FE62 and it sprang to life!
Needs a little cleaning up but definite progress.

Re: Model B+ Disc Interface

Doesn’t the B+ motherboard support both the 8271 and the 1770? Also, I think the B+ motherboard was used in a few other places without either (Acorn X.25 gateway?)… There are markings on the board for a 8271 but was never implemented. And yes the X.25 Gateway did use the B+ board without the 1770. ...
