Re: New version of Frogger (was: A demo of what is looking like a new Frogger for the beeb)

I've just been off to find the original compression thread, it is still on RetroSoftwar and contains Frogger, all source code for the compressor and decompressor including and a sample !BOOT (which can be built as a ROM). If anyone wants to, it should be easy to make the ROM a little more polite and...

Re: New version of Frogger (was: A demo of what is looking like a new Frogger for the beeb)

I've just put it in the games on EPROM thread, but I guess it should be here anyway. As I said, this ROM is a little rude as it just starts in response to any OS call/query, this was for PowerUP! last year. Keys are: [Z], [X], [/] and [:] on the beeb, but : is usually mapped to ' on an emulator. Try...

Welcome,
Do you write stuff for your Beeb's, if not, you will find a few more additions http://bbcmicro.co.uk/index.php?rt_A=on&rt_N=on&search= or https://bitshifters.github.io/ or just around the forums.

I work in and live near Kings Langley and will be at the ROUGOL discos RISCOS show Saturday 28th October 2017 at its usual venue of the St Giles Hotel in Feltham if you might be near either of these. Failing that, I could probably detour after the show. Once mbi I have them, they can come to the Les...

Re: BBC Model B takes up smoking

The caps are quite easy to replace, even with just a soldering iron, but disassembly and reassembly of the PSU can be a little fiddly. The worst thing about the popped caps and continued use is that it will add a new aroma that you may not want your beeb to have - quite distinctive. [looks for the s...

The Darkness of Raven Wood and Sarah's White Light, but if you include demos: RichTWs BoneMuncher and Richtech2, RobC's NuLA and the Bitshifters demos. I like to think that my games make their graphics look their best, but I think only Frogger really looks new for the beeb, but even then, it is only...

Re: What would be a suitable D2A resister ladder for the beeb

I've been thinking a bit more about this and ways to auto detect it, and whether auto detect is even useful. I would like auto detect mode and was thinking about connecting b0 to ACK and then checking for the connection. This would cost a little (probably imperceptible - definitely by me) accuracy a...

Re: Beeb FPGA

I can't think why this might affect speech!, but sample playing routines from the NES don't work on the beeb as the sn76489 seems to be subtly different (jsbeeb implements the kind usually found in a nes) this only really affects frequency timer value 0, so I guess it's more about interrupt handling...

To get 50hz from YouTube, you need to upload at atleast 720p50, so 1280x720 at 50hz non interlaced, the resolution is as important as the frame rate. For up to give analogue vref (about 2v), centre to give half that and down to give 0v on one analogue channel, with left/right doing something similar on another channel and the fire button being 5v when not pressed and 0v when pressed. This would then be compatible with existing beeb games. There i...

Re: A new Warlords emulator for the beeb (was Writing a ...)

The point of this is that you don't have to modify the joystick. In an Atari joystick, at the plug end, you have a wire for each direction and fire, which are all floating unles you press then, then they connect to a single common ground. There is an adapter with many resistors and transistors on it...
