Re: New Acorn 8bit? Should there be one?

Hmm this has really got my interest. IMHO one of the vital things will be a quality keyboard. That will add cost to it so I wonder whether, as a starting point, a quantity of ordinary Cherry USB keyboards could be ordered with red function keys? This, of itself, might help the BBC community if a new...

bbc master case ideally damaged

Hi
I have a project that will require me to house a master keyboard in a separate unit. Rather than hack a master case I'd like to try to get a damaged master case that I won't feel so bad about hacking about.
Any help appreciated

Thanks

I hope this is of use to people.

Found out a Gator GMC 2222 mixer cover is a lovely fit on a bbc master. £12 on ebay.

Re: Making 1mhz bus connecting cable

Yes - I've dove that - was using an issue 2 Beeb to test so wonder whether that was the reason for not working? Or perhaps because the other piece of equipment was not plugged into mains?
Many thanks for the quick reply

Making 1mhz bus connecting cable

I've googled this and had a look in the search function but have found nothing helpful. I have a an external device which has a 1mhz bus socket. I need to make a cable to fit between the beeb and this equipment. Is it simply that I need to ensure each end of the cable matches the other or is there s...

3.5 drive randomly turns off- any ideas please

I'm getting back into my bbc equipment I haven't used for about 4 years. I have a dual 3.5 fdd that was made from Sony drives a few years ago. It starts fine and I can format both drive 0 and 1 Occasionally if I try to format drives 2and 3 it starts formatting but then switches off partway through -...

Using electron as keyboard for BBC Master

I have an old electron with a fried motherboard - I seem to remember plugging it in about 28 years ago and getting a flash as I plugged the psu lead into the case. I still have the scar on my hand! Anyway, having been inspired by the rackmount M128 music sequencer on this forum I am toying with the ...

Re: Simulating a Remote Control

Before you go to too much trouble just try inserting the control jack from a 3 plug cassette lead. I used this method back in my youth to run a movie quiz from my electron. I had at my disposal an old sanyo beta video and merely used the cassette relay to start/stop a video compilation. Needed two T...

There are no trains- not since the beeching cuts. Nearest train stations are Cambridge or audley end- taxis are about £30 each way from cambridge. A minibus might be cheaper if a few are travelling. Hello- I'm using a genuine acorn dual 5 1/4" bbc disc drive. I have managed to successfully backup discs I created myself but, when trying to backup a commercial disc, the process failed. I am wondering if there is some copy protection issue? this would be unusual as the actual copyright owner ...

One of my acquisitions was a cracked two-box pc-style case for the beeb.
