Re: Stardot logo infected with spuds!

Dunno if this means anything, but I've noticed that whenever I refresh the page, hoping to see what bit of fruit or veg is going to show up next, that it always trips to a sort of text only version first before loading properly, like this:

Hopefully it can be fixed and converted to 4096 colours....

I've got one here (for a Master) made by Electro Guard, but I don't have a decent picture of it. Probably they made them for the Model B as well.

I think a similar effect happens with ANFS where you get "Bad net checksum".

I think make sure X% and Y% correctly point to the parameter block, and that the result block is correctly pointed to in the parameter block, and make sure enough space is reserved for the result block. Use DIM to reserve space rather than using any fixed memory location. Sometimes I find that OS ca...

Re: Reproduction of the Acorn Econet Logo

That looks very nice. When I was having the Econet clocks made, I didn't want to put any proprietory lettering on them. After the clocks arrived and I wanted to have some wording put on them, I was told by more than one company that they wouldn't be willing to print onto an assembled product. I did ...

Had a great time this weekend, and many thanks to the organisers for putting it on. It was great to see so many familiar faces, as well as some new ones, and some I'd forgotten I did already know. Significant achievements were made this weekend, with JGH patching L3 FS version 1.24 to accept 21-st c...

Winchester Host Adapter Fred Memory Mapping

Back to an old recurring theme of mine, connecting up real 1980s Winchester Disc units to a Beeb at the same time as a more modern flash based storage device to do a backup. The problem is that you can't have the original ADFS active at the same time as "IDE" ADFS, so doing something invol...

Re: BBC micro style keycaps for modern keyboard

This very same question - ie. what font was used on the BBC micro keytops - occurred to me only a few days ago when I was making up the picture set of my visit to CCH in September. Looking at the collection they have there, multiple 1980s machines used exactly the same font.

That's a full date set of florins still in circulation at the time they were demonetised in 1992. When I was collecting them in 1992 the most difficult year to find was 1958, I really struggled to get hold of those. Shillings from 1937 to 1967 had English and Scottish varieties, I really wish I had ...
