ICE T Spartan 6 and adapter board.

Hi all, Just a couple of days ago received my Spartan 6 board and have just gone to mate it with Jason's adapter board and noticed that the silkscreen on Jasons board doesn't match (it's the mirror image of) the layout of my spartan board. So before plugging it in and killing the FPGA (or worse the ...

Re: Is there still any interest for Atom2k15 boards

That could solve the Godil problem. But where to get the XC9536XL and XC9572XL CPLD's? The 44pin PLCC are not available any more except from Ebay ... but are these reliable? You could of course re-engineer (I'm assuming you still have the design files which IIRC where for kicad) the boards for the ...

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

[Oops, I see now I missed an existing reply!] And then, hacking off the 2x50 sockets and then soldering the 40pin header is another option. Desoldering them intact could be tricky, but attacking them with sidecutters and then removing the 100 pins one by one should be easier. It would of course be ...

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

I'd initially thought about making an adapter board bu eventually opted to remove the female headers and replace with top mounted male ones + dil40 on bottom. Though it was a reasonable amount of work :( and took ages to clear the solder out of the holes to fit the new top mounted pins. Cheers. Phill.

Re: Unusual mask ROM in Master 128

It says "MOS 3.20 with incorrect CS". I'm curious what the 'incorrect CS' might refer to. EDIT: Thinking about it, I'm wondering if CS is chip select. Yes, it's Chip Select. It incorrectly had a CS line (active high) instead of a ~CS line (active low), so came on a mini-PCB with an invert...

Re: Which soldering iron?

I *THINK* I'm beginning to get it, though I do think that the T18-C3 is a little too wide for my liking, I'm going to try ordering a C2 and C1, as they are only a few quid. I do think I'm more suited to using the flux pen however, I was finding the liquid stuff irritating and made me cough loads, al...

Re: I've got an Acorn Atom... Woot Woot :) (changed title (again) :)

No that doesn't work because the AtoMMC rom and DISATOM are both #Axxx versions. You could install an #Exxx AtoMMC rom instead of a #Axxx version and place the AtoMMC rom on top. But if he did that wouldn't it preclude the use of SDDOS which IIRC is an $E000 ROM? I do have some RAMROM boards left, ...

Re: Which soldering iron?

Too much solder perhaps? You need only the tiiiiiiiinyiest touch for a tqfp. A bit more for a sodip. And flux. Lots of it. The more toxic the better  Moar colons. Probably too much solder, I did flux it both the pads and on top of the pins with a flux pen I'll try picking up some of the flux y...

However as this was the same weekend as the Dragon meetup last year, and I know they are planning another I will confirm once I know if / when that meetup is. I will of course suggest when they plan dates not to choose this weekend. Cheers. Phill.

Re: Acorn ATOM - PAL to NTSC

Yep 6847 is natively NTSC, so you should be good to go. Most of the computers that used it and output colour that where sold in PAL reigions hat to use various hacks to convert the signal, such as cutting the clock to the 6847 and using external logic to insert extra blank lines. The Atom just requi...

Indeed I do. Just looking at the material data sheet for that, it's rosin free and looks unlikely to be utterly awful for you ;) Yep if I was reading it right it was 75%-85% Iso-propanol anyway....I have a 200ml bottle of that on my bench in any case. Re: Which soldering iron?

I now use a Weller liquid flux and paint it on where necessary. I think it's rosin based. It's quick and reliable. Quite expensive but it's lasted a long time. I avoid the 'flux pens' like the plague. They're toxic and not as convenient as you'd hope they'd be. I have had various flux gels in syrin...

For surface mount work I typically use a bit that is 2mm wide. I can drag solder TQFPs very quickly and get some really nice joints.
