Hello Cris! Welcome!

If you haven't done so already, and it hasn't been replaced, get the battery out!

OK, further - I have no idea why it's misbehaving for registered users - there should be no delay for you: searchsettings.png It's only guests that get the kibosh on that one. It might be a bug somewhere in something :( Again, this is open source whateverness, so we keep it fairly up to date, but th...

Re: Search on stardot unstable?

I haven't mentioned it before but this timer lock-out has been driving me crazy ever since it suddenly appeared coincident with the last attempts to fix the other ' broken search ' issues. The bottom line is that for years and years the search functioned fine (within the acknowledged limitations) b...

Re: Search on stardot unstable?

I've seen the same thing - in fact I just tested it: If you do a seach for something like "serial port" it will return several pages of results. As you click on some of the later pages (like page 4) it will say I can't search for 'x' seconds - but I haven't done a new search! I've just tr...

I'll defer to flaxcottage as the expert, but speaking as a very lapsed teacher, teaching programming isn't just about programming. It teaches a huge number of transferable skills and problem solving techniques that are relevant from accountancy to philosophy to physics (and no, that's not a definiti...

Re: Suspect ATMEL AT28C256 marked EEPROMs

All the fake ones I've seen have that date code. Some are missing the "pin 1" dimple too, even though the arrow points there. I have had a couple that work fine on my programmer, then completely misbehaves when I plug it into my EUP :(

duikkie - do you have some nailvarnish remover? (Acetone)? See if you can rub the markings off (and also have a go on the underside and see if there's a manufacturing code underneath?)

Yes - if you've done a search, then it will make you wait before doing another (it's to stop bots overloading the server).

Re: How best to connect Electron to a display screen?

TV. A modern monitor won't sync with it without a scan rate converter. Three options (don't bother with the UHF tuner): 1) Composite out in B&W 2) Open up the electron, make link 4 (LK4) on the motherboard, and you'll have colour composite 3) (best option), get, or make, a BBC Micro RGB to SCART...

Nope. The mega games cartridge doesn't work on a Master either.

Server Updates

Just to forewarn - I'm going to kick the server over with some OS updates a bit later. The forums will probably go up and down a couple of times. If you're writing a big post I'd recommend doing writing it in notepad ready to cut and paste in just in case you get caught by a reboot.

With respect, if you'd like to sell it on the forum to a member as a private sale you are more than welcome to, but this isn't intended to provide a vehicle for promoting ebay auctions (as noted in the forum rules above).

Basically, until it's moved away from allegro 4, you can't :(
4 & 5 aren't compatible and 4 won't compile on recent OS X.

Myelin's right - Phi2 on the edge connector isn't actually Phi2, it is Phi1. I certainly came up against this when trying to prototype a 1MHz bus :?

So, yes - absolutely! Either placing them into cartridges designed to take them and plopping them in the plus 1, plugging them into things like the rombox/rombox plus, or the AP6 (which lives inside the plus 1). You can happily use 28C256 eeproms too (the redesigned AP6 has all the software built in...
