Is this project worth it?

Would anyone be interested in an Infinity-ish game maker for the modern PC? Like, with a map editor, and a folder with image files and the text files containing the character's behaviour script... Like one would contain: Name Wall Solid Image wall1.png And one could contain: Name Spider Entity Deadl...

Re: Erik the Viking Question

I have a full screenshop map but I think the screens are compressed to a smaller size and the colours seem a bit off, so I think it was from a different system. Any chance you could upload that? Or is it this one?: http://maps.speccy.cz/map.php?id=SagaofEriktheViking :?: Yeh, it's that one. Differe...

Just Seen a SIM Baddy On Something Else

You know the Beeb game "SIM"? You know that magenta bug-eye monster that bounces around some of the rooms? Just seen a near perfect clone of it on a VIC-20 game...

Re: Erik the Viking Question

Will check as had this BITD on tape, so probably the disc version, if exists.... When Lee and I were preparing the version of Erik that's now on bbcmicro.co.uk , I think we concluded that no Beeb disc version was ever released. Any disc versions that are out there are probably tape-to-disc hacks. I...

Re: Erik the Viking Question

Not sure, but Return To Eden , also by Level 9, seems to have had a slideshow built in. Maybe there's a version of Erik out there with a similar slideshow? :?: Oh it was just like that! I'm sure it had a similar menu at the start where you could choose "pictures" now that I've seen this.....

Erik the Viking Question

In the olden days I had a copy of Erik the Viking but there was a way to just get a slideshow of the pictures instead of the game. Anyone know how to get that? Do I need a special copy? Cheeeeeeeeeeers.

Hah, wasn't expecting that. You ask this forum for a rom and someone goes "in the meantime here's one I made myself". Why am I even surprised? Cheers mate. Still would like the one from my childhood but this is cool

Re: *mzap and *define

The acronym AMX is familiar but I thiiiiink it was something to do with mouse support in my beeb's case.. And the only parameter it took was the character index to start the editor at.

I did that line 110 thing, and I just get an error. Sometimes it's just "at line 110" and sometimes it's "ONOSCLILEN ONOSCLILEN ONOSCLILEN at line 110". Am I supposed to save the BANJAX file in a way other than SAVE "BANJAX" since it's part machinecode? I tried manuall...

*mzap and *define

Ello. In the 80s, our Beeb had the command *mzap (or *memzap?) which let you directly edit the memory in a hex editor. Presumably it had a rom that let you do that. Anyone know what rom it was and how to get it for BeebEm? Also, I had a rom that let you type *define <byte> or *def. <byte> and it wou...

Ello. Anyone got a decent scan of the Repton Infinity cover? The best I can find is a washed out low-resolution one. I could really do with a nice consistant, high-rez scan with vivid colours. This is the best I can find: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/userdata/images/large/PRODPIC-40637.jpg Che...

Re: Try my XOR for PC

Updated... MUSIC There's a music folder which it reads and plays everything in there on shuffle, but it only reads .ogg and .wav since you actually have to be licensed to use MP3s in a project. There are a few Kaye Brewster songs in there as default, plus my "XOR on Glockenspiels" track. M...

I Found Some Mystery Sprites in Survivors

Messing around I found four mystery sprites in the Atlantis game Survivors. Three are obviously variations on existing ones and one is some kind of pattern. Here they are compared to their counterparts. The digger one is very different but the pusher (red) matches the droid we see except that in the...

Re: Try my XOR for PC

I had been going to suggest that if you were planning to do for XOR the kind of thing you did with Repton Overture then you might look at Lost Symbols for inspiration: http://web.archive.org/web/20050324024443/http://www-solar.mcs.st-and.ac.uk/~davidb/Software/Lost/index.html But then I looked at t...
