The 8 high scores are randomly selected from a set of 16... so it's possible that it doesn't appear all of the time!

Re: Mini Office II disk protection (Split from: Legacy of the BBC Micro User magazine / Database Publications Ltd)

Not sure if you can format a track with 20 sectors can you? I had a feeling that 18 128 byte sectors was pretty much the limit. I think i must've got the idea from the following The most significant 3 bits of the number stored in parameter block &09 contain the sector size code (column 2 of fig...

Anyone know what the hell this ROM does that seems to cause so many problems? I just use it for its disassembler! Enigma Disc Imager's *DISS and *MEDIT are probably useful substitutes You could write a little basic program in the loader saying IF &130=&0D then PRINT"TURN OFF DISC DOCTO...

Re: Mini Office II disk protection (Split from: Legacy of the BBC Micro User magazine / Database Publications Ltd)

I guess the other thing you need to do when trying to make a sector dump is to try reading each sector with every possible sector size, not just the one reported in the IDs. (I presume you get an error when trying to read a sector with a different size to its actual size?). A "Data CRC error&q...

Re: Mini Office II disk protection (Split from: Legacy of the BBC Micro User magazine / Database Publications Ltd)

My 8271 disk copy program had a similar display but was very slow (it read/wrote one sector at a time). Every time a new disk wouldn't copy it got tweaked and the display was my debugging. The FSD transfer works on a sector a time and you're right, having a display does quickly help pinpoint any pr...

Just required relocating.

Doesn't work properly on a BBC (tried under emulation on BeebEM and B-Em) due to what happens when the demo/attract mode has finished, but is probably too fast anyway!

What Disk Analysis software created the sector dump, by the way? It's a BBC BASIC for Windows program that just looks at the FSD file and produces a report. The format is heavily borrowed / copied from Enigma Disc Imager's *IDDUMP, as is the FSD maker program! I think on some disk controllers you c...
