Re: Any home for the Acorn System?

Thanks for flagging this, good observation. Whilst I personally would be happy to combine the two, it'd be nice to get some input from Kees, Wim, Phill, Dave, Roland and the other stalwarts of the Atom group, as well as the other mods/admins of course. Adding a new subgroup for the System machines s...

Can I add an extra VFS board so which will enable me to have both M+F versions?

Re: Emulation Request

Hi, it was me that created all of the Acorn FDI files that were previously available via the Acorn Preservation site. They are contained on a shared dropbox drive (together with the associated media scans) which several people have access to, and I know that a number of us have multiple offline back...

Yes. And the ones that have three, four and five!

Ah sorry for not being clearer - I meant, can you also include the identities of the publishers for games with more than one?

Re: Things I am doing. Desktop application

Arcadians suggestion of only including the publisher if there are two games of the same name doesn't stop there being two publishers. Are you able to easily provide a list of all the games that have two publishers? What if, in the case of two publishers, an additional '+' symbol was inserted betwee...

Re: Things I am doing. Desktop application

... the TOSEC format does seem quite ungainly and over-detailed to me. I like the simplicity of Title-Publisher-ID.ssd or similar. Agree (I seem to agreeing a lot with Chet tonight! ;) ). I also think that year of release should never EVER be featured within filenames (goodness now I sound like JGH...

pau1ie wrote:What about when games have more than one publisher?

Oh, in my mind we would only include the publisher in the filename if there are multiple games with the same title

e.g.
Reversi-Acornsoft
Reversi-Micropower

If the title is unique then no need for the qualifier.

Re: Things I am doing. Desktop application

Ref: ReversiComputerConcepts-1165.ssd ReversiBeebug-2966.ssd ReversiAcornsoft-968.ssd I do think filenames would look neater if there was a dash between the title and the publisher if possible e.g. Reversi-Beebug Then as per my example, I'd rather use an underscore to the prefix the disc no rather t...

Re: Things I am doing: Educational archive

I guess we could get a subdomain set up for the educational archive e.g. edu.bbcmicro.co.uk ? Oh and seeing as you asked, I think the desktop app concept sounds very cool, I think it could be really useful (especially the MMC picker) but if I was asked which should be higher priority I think I'd hav...

Re: Things I am doing. Desktop application

I'd suggest stripping the "DiscNNN-" prefix off each .SSD filename before adding the .SSD to the zip because the prefix isn't really relevant to the typical user, who probably just wants a download of all the games as individual games and doesn't care which of Mick's DSDs each game was or...

Serial no is for a Model A...

There's a shot of the back of the machine but it's quite dark and I can't quite make out whether the rear connectors are present. But if it's an unmodified Model A that would make it rather desirable, even if it requires a little attention to make it 'go'.

Col?). SSD for Blockade already on STH. DaveE has all three cassettes I believe and scans are on E.G.G. We...

I don't have this any more, but here's a WAV file I recorded in April 2014: http://www.stairwaytohell.com/recordings/wav/SubHunt_Stereo.wav I don't think the recording was particularly good and IIRC I wasn't able to create a UEF using the old v0.3 software, so it might not be much use - but I'd be i...

We still need to get the dumps and summary across to Steve, Phill (note we only had permission to archive the discs on behalf of Steve and CFCH, we can't distribute them - as they did appear to contain personal files).
