Re: Plus1 Slogger ROM without cart joy interface?

There was a program published in Electron User called JOYPLUS that mapped input from joysticks plugged into the Plus 1 to key presses.

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software ALPS & 4thD Cyber Chess

I may have a copy of Cyber Chess for you. I sent you a PM. Many thanks for this kind offer DutchAcorn! I’ve received your PM, but unfortunately I haven’t yet earned the right to PM you a reply (not enough posts, though I’m surely getting closer) - anyhow, I’ll be very happy to take you up on your o...

Re: ABug NORTH User Group meeting | 19-21 JAN 2018 | MANCHESTER *BOOKING INFO*

Update: I do have an Archive Viper 2150S QIC-150 drive, also my shuttle PCs have a PCI slot so I should be able to get the drive and the card setup (at least in Linux). I of course have no idea if the drive works, I also suspect I only have DC-600A 60MB media for it so don't know if I'll be able to...

Re: ABug NORTH User Group meeting | 19-21 JAN 2018 | MANCHESTER *BOOKING INFO*

Indeed. But the reason I said "that understands QIC-150" is that QIC drives support a great deal of backwards compatability. You might even find that a modern drive works! Having lazily asked for quick answers I did a bit of background reading, finding the QIC trade association page and a...

Re: ABug NORTH User Group meeting | 19-21 JAN 2018 | MANCHESTER *BOOKING INFO*

But the good news is that there will be nothing at all Acorn-specific about that cartridge. Just stick it in any drive on any Unix box that understands QIC-150 then untar the contents (or dd, if you want to preserve the archival structure). What kind of drive are we talking about? I'm sure that the...

QIC tape and drive (from ABUG North booking info topic)

One of the things it would be good to look at is the Sony data cartridge containing a dump of RISC iX 1.13 that terjeio handed to me over two years ago. Does anyone have hardware that could possibly read this? I also promised to send the manuals onward to a museum and this is likely to be the...

Re: How to convert tape to UEF

Sorry, recordUEF.py isn't really ready for prime time yet. It's really only the result of a quick-and-dirty attempt of mine to read tapes that I had lying around. :( In terms of converting to mono, 8-bit audio you could try using sox. Something like this should work: sox inputfile.wav -c 1 -b 8 -e s...

Seems to be Electron scores, from the high scorers that I saw on the Elbug score list in the Beebug supplements, and Guardian is on that list which was released only for the Electron (though runs on the BBC), but, Zalaga is also on that list and that is a BBC only game... I don't know how you got t...

OK, I've booked flights now. I'm not bringing any major kit - only cartridges and peripherals at most.

I'll send you a PM, Dave. :)

Edit: I'm really only considering being around on the Saturday but I'm keeping my options open. :)

Very interesting! I was looking to explore Citadel's graphics and screen data at some point but never got round to it. It's good to see someone making progress with it. The second item certainly looks like a gold bar. :)

I wonder if there's a site somewhere with reviews of online courses. It would certainly be good to get people's impressions and experience before putting down thousands of pounds and committing a lot of time to study. Otherwise it's a case of hearing about these things via word of mouth. I've heard ...

I saw the disk image land on the Retro Software site yesterday but held off playing it until this thread appeared. :) I'm very impressed by the game. I love the way it takes recognisable elements from Firetrack and adds new features to make a worthy sequel. It's quite an achievement! It's a real cha...

One way to get a listing would be to LOAD the game (instead of CHAINing it) then spool the listing to a file or redirect the output to a printer. Feel free to ask in one of the subforums for hints on how exactly to do that. :)

RISC OS was the operating system running on the Acorn computers ARM used to perform the demonstrations. This fact proves RISC OS was and is perfectly capable of multi-core operation. I'd be very surprised if that was ever the case. Maybe someone should tell ROOL, then, if it's that easy: Bou...

Welcome from a fellow Electron user! :D

You'll find information about a lot of Electron games at Stairway To Hell, Acorn Electron World and Every Game Going. Some of us even write new games for the machine and release them at Retro Software. :)
