Re: Doctor Who and the Mines of Terror

mmm some interesting text in the file with odd data in it "*TDN Doctor Who and the Mines of Terror. (C) Micro Power 1985. Quark III tape protection.!" Its the 1st tape that appears to make use of what sounds like long short waves for protection, even sounds like it may have data at a diffe...

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

Can't believe its a solder joint problem the BBC where basically very well put together.
you get 16K of ram and does the BBC then work ?
you can type a simple basic program in and run it ?

Re: Only the Break key works on Keyboard

The other problem with the keyboard is that pressure gets put on the 3 LED's at the bottom left and the tracks get pushed away from the board and brake, so have a close look at those as well.

Re: Dragonsoft Explorer

I suspect it will complain when you game ends as that is probably when it wants to write it away, but the game does not even get to the loading screen it hangs after choosing D for double drives. so suspect it crashes on &7f Osword calls I saw all over the place in the code.

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

But are you sure its a ram problem as with most you can run the BBC with one ram bank or the other if that's the case, or with the ram banks inverted so that the faulty half in in screen memory, otherwise the change is that its an addressing problem. But its easier to prove the 1st to be the case or...

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

you don't need to physical switch the ram just put an inverter on S25 to invert the signal which means the O.S. should then run in the other half of ram.

Re: Dragonsoft Explorer

did not give it a try there only in BeebEm. Problem is it game needs both discs and i have no idea how you would mount the save disk in drive 1. O the link you gave loads both but looks like it stops when it starts running the code which uses all &7f Osword calls to load data and not sure how we...

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

It could be an addressing problem but think you need to rule out that its not a faulty memory chip and in most cases if you swap the memory around and the fault moves to the display area then you know its a ram fault and also which half, then its just a case of working out which bit which will point...

Re: Beebem on Github

BeebEm Bug "Extra bytes on the end of each block saved" If you save (comms, tape control, Record) a file within BeemEm to a tape file (UEF) the last byte 2nd byte of the block CRC gets repeated twice, ie ?? 32 35 36 3c 3e 30 20 80 20 a6 2d 32 35 36 3c 3e 50 cf 10 above the "50 cf"...

Re: Problem Beeb MotherBoard

it's not clear from your posts if putting an inverter on S25 made any difference or not?
I did note that and was mentioned by others that you had wired the chip incorrectly to S25.

Here is one with the ROM on the play disc and auto loads on boot, searches for ram starting at bank 0, then continues to load the normal boot loader.

Re: Dragonsoft Explorer

Here is a attached file which is rom/ram safe and will now run if a writable rom/ram slot is used for the rom image.
Will look to see if it will run as a DSD as it may want the safe disc in drive 1 and not drive 2.
Peter.
Forgot to mention the file ROM on the ROM disc is the modified ROM file.

O did not realize it was a link to a sale of the software :D ouch 56 euros plus postage.
So no one has a uef or even a good quality wave image of it then? as 50 pound just to get to look at the copy protection I find a bit steep.
