RPC dead

Mine died too. I was looking at a text editor window and suddenly the computer lost power. I think PSU blew up as now it's completely silent when I switch it on. Took it out yesterday after being stored all summer, and was working properly. However, today the boot sequence was being interrupted with...

Thanks Stephen, the oddly shaped back of the monitor case certainly looks the same.

Re: Today I received.....

A Fujitsu ft8520 terminal. I intend to connect it to a Rasp Pi, although I've never done anything alike before. I was offered to take a DEC VT220 when the Civ Eng School I studied in tossed them. I had left aside the hobby at the time.

Re: Commodore 64

A hardware kind of guy will certainly enjoy more replacing kernel rom with jiffydos (usually unsocketed), saudering the internal sd2iec and a reset line and then modding the case for those.

Re: Commodore 64

Newly built readers is a hot topic, I think there are a few more choices, Easyflash, Chameleon.
Recently bought a yellowed Master + Datacenter & 3,5"dd from Retroclinic. Came upon a couple of messages here in this forum and then decided.

Re: Commodore 64

The Ultimate emulates 1541 drive which has its own 6502, ram & rom. The sd2iec originally was just another serial bus compatible device. They've been upgrading the firmware, and fixing lots of disk images *games-no demos*, to improve compatibility.

Re: Commodore 64

I think the actual difference is like 90€, plus you spare the fastloader. sd2iec loads cracked games, and nothing else.

Re: Commodore 64

Instead of sd2iec + fastloader I'd go for the 1541 Ultimate 2+. It ensures 1541 compatibility which is important for demos and sd2iec certainly doesn't. I don't know if the fastloader covers for it but I doubt it. Besides the ultimate provides stereosid emulation and ram expansion and partial suppor...

Re: Hello from Barcelona

I just googled it, you mean http://ftp.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/systems/acorn/riscos/, I guess.
Thank you, sure that's interesting.
No I wasn't aware of viruses. Without a hard drive though  I guess they can't hurt me.
I have to remove the battery now, fortunately it's pretty solid.

Re: Hello from Barcelona

Thank you everybody,
The 800k disks and .adl renaming tips did the trick for Omniflop, and the floppy drive is alive and kicking TOSEC images. :D

Hello from Barcelona

I'm a VIC-20 bred guy with a mostly 8-bit Commodore computer collection. I recently got an A3010 from eBay. I love it. No software though. But several manuals. I find the brand interesting since I listened to the interview of one founder in the USA Computer History Museum. I'm adding a BBC B soon, w...
