Re: BeebSCSI mini

Hello,

I foolishly didn’t buy one of these when they were available, so I’d be delighted to buy one from this run!

Many thanks,

Hi Davidb - Yes, DutchAcorn very kindly did send me his copy of CyberChess, which I’ve been thoroughly enjoying on my A5000, but many thanks for thinking of my request, and for your post - much appreciated! :D

Re: ADFFS 2.63 released

I think the ALPS app on the support disc just contains a system module in the Resources folder and was used for updating the main ALPS app on the main ALPS disc - there’s actually no need for this now as the version of ALPS on the main ALPS disc superseded the version in the support disc - so, to ru...

Re: ADFFS 2.63 released

Looks like I'll have to start wading through the manuals/threads -- unless someone can give me a shortcut (i.e. a dummy's guide)? There’s a very nice step by step guide to setting up Arculator by KarateEd in the first post of the second thread that I linked to above - i.e. http://stardot.org.uk/for...

even though I've managed to mount it with ADFFS, and even though I can see the apps !Compact, !Compress, etc., throws an error every time I try to run one of them by double-clicking the icon: "Don't know where System resources are. Open a directory viewer containing a !System folder and try ag...

Re: Disc Error 20/21/23 and SATA->IDE support

Can I assume from the one person that's downloaded the pre-patched ADFS268, that all the SD/CF compatibility issues pre RiscPC are now resolved? I've tested ADFS268 on my A3020 this evening - I can confirm that this modified ADFS is working nicely with all the CF cards that I've got, including some...

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software titles for public release

To speed up the testing, has anyone successfully used ALPS on a physical StrongARM that could confirm definitively that it works without issue? I’ve been running ALPS on a 233MHz StrongARM RiscPC with RISC OS 4.02 quite happily - I’ve not done a systematic test of all features, but so far everythin...

Hi Phil - Fantastic that you found your pdfs of the manuals, and thanks for sharing! Re: Wanted: Alpine Software ALPS & 4thD Cyber Chess

Well, CJE have come up trumps! They found an old Archimedes ALPS package when looking for something else, so I've been able to buy this from them. The package contains the manuals, and what I think was the last version of the ALPS software, version 5.12a from August 1995. I did contact GuitarPhil, f...

I had the same thought as you, flaxcottage! I’ve been testing the floppy and IDE with some new(ish) cables that work fine with my other bits of Acorn kit, rather than with the somewhat less new cables that arrived with my A5000 - I do continue to suspect that it’s some of the crusty ICs that are beh...

Another A5000 restoration....

I'm trying to restore an A5000 which has suffered battery damage to the PCB. I received the machine after someone else had done a bit of a clean up of the PCB, and had replaced the CMOS battery. At that point, the machine was non functioning. There was no video output (though perhaps that's not stri...
