Re: A5000 and A7000 guide needed

The problem is that I have no information on how to strip either of these machines. I was kinda hoping there was a webpage with some images of the way I remove the drive cradle/daughter board. I can't take a flyer at it to be honest. If I lose the batteries I lose the functionality. I do want the ba...

A5000 and A7000 guide needed

Hi I have issues with battery removal and replacement on my A5000 and A7000 and was wondering if there was an easy to follow guide anywhere on both the dismantling of these machines and the replacement of the batteries. I have included my own web pages for the machines created these last few days sh...

Re: A5000 Disc Error 21

I spent a good while tinkering with the cable, switching on resetting, changing the mouse and keyboard etc etc. Nothing but nothing would work. In the end I gave up and realised the hard drive had eventually died. So I carried the computer back to where she normally sits and reconnected everything. ...

A5000 Disc Error 21

Just my luck. I was taking pictures of the battery on the A5000, or trying to, so I could post here and ask how to remove it. The computer has been working without fault. It has a hard drive which up until today worked perfectly. There is no obvious damage from the battery and the board looks fine. ...

Re: Undelete

Thanks for the comments. On the Amstrad PCW I had this tools disk which basically gave me a dump of the file structures on the disk and all I had to do was change an E to an 0 and like magic the files would reappear. Was hoping for something like that. Never mind, I guess I have to rebuild the direc...

Re: Master Series Issue

Spent the afternoon setting up a permanent spot for the BBC Master, UFD and Cub and am ready to rock and roll. I have a fresh box of 5.25" disks and my handy bundle of BBC manuals to wade through. What more could you ask. I am so appreciative that after all these years there are folk available ...

Re: Master Series Issue

My bad I guess for mucking around all day with various machines and OS. I play on the Einstein and that runs first into the OS and if I want BASIC I just activate it. Same really with CP/M and Mallard on the Amstrads. I prefer the OS than BASIC for the most part. I kinda guessed in the end the clue ...

I have gone through these thick books endlessly and whilst it tells me all about the glories of MOS it doesn't say press 'x' at the BASIC command prompt to get back into MOS. Also how do I defau...

Re: Master Series Issue

Hi Thanks for the guide. Very useful. Tonight I have been playing around with FORMAT and I have formatted both 40 TRK and 80 TRK on Drives 0 and 3 of the twin drive unit. I have also discovered how to search on each drive and to copy from one drive to the next. So the drives and the computer are wor...

A3000 Revived

Hi So I dig out the second of my Acorn A3000s and this one had no battery life and when I did the reset it only worked without the mouse plugged in. If I plugged in the mouse I got a white on black alert saying error. I carefully detached the front cover and removed the two ribbon strips from the co...

Hi

Thanks for the link. Just purchased battery. See how I get on.

No doubt some more questions when it arrives. Gives me time to swat up on the books.

A3000 Battery Removal

Hi I had to wait a while for my 9 pin male to male connector to arrive so I could use an old Amiga Microvitec to test the 3000 and I can report that the machine booted fine. The computer has an Acorn midi interface and RAM board expansion I am assuming. The battery below the keyboard had started to ...

I was thinking off simply copying the application across. Thing is I have been using the 7000 so much now I kinda have fell in love with the computer. Its a neat small unit and works a dream. I like being able to use a standard keyboard and mouse plus the flat screen monitor. I did set the mode to 2...

Ultimate Power Supply

Hi I have an Ultimate expansion on an A3010 with hard drive but it is not working. The computer works fine. I note from the rear that it refers to power. Unusual if this has its own power supply. If that is the case does anyone know how I can power the expansion and what type of connector will I req...

Re: JPEG Images

Did not know that. I think the colours on A7000 conversion just from dropping the jpegs on the icon are wonderful. I am really enjoying using the 7000. Dunno why the image quality impresses me. I am using a modern flat screen monitor and with Windows the colours always feel too transparent and washe...

Battery Issues

Hi I was going to post a question about my 5000 but applies to the 7000 also. I have removed two batteries this week one from a 3010 and another from a 3020. Both machines were working with the DELETE button and continue to do so. The 5000 and 7000 run without fault and the 7000 has the correct time...

Hi I found !ChangeFSI on the 7000 in utilities and fired it up and then dragged the files over the icon and it converted them. It converted jpeg, bmp nad gif. I then saved to disk. The application wasn't on the 5000. The images though showed up on the 5000 albeit in a very limited palette. I dragged...

When I save as a Draw item the image is blank unless I actually draw...
