Re: Wanted: Alpine Software ALPS & 4thD Cyber Chess

Jon's been in touch by email and I have replied with my permission to publish. One point regarding Creator II is that the sound/music module was written by Peter Gillett. I have lost touch with him so haven't been able to confirm the position regarding his work being released. Perhaps someone has hi...

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software ALPS & 4thD Cyber Chess

Hi folks, @sirbod: I am both the author and publisher of ALPS for the Archimedes and I am happy for it and it's manuals to be distributed by JASPP. I will have another hunt to see if the manuals are on floppies in my 'crypt' but they may have been lost on the old hardrive. @lcww1: I've forgotten wha...

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software ALPS & 4thD Cyber Chess

Yes that's not a problem. Please go ahead and maybe I can actually download it myself to run on my VirtualRPC!

I think I have the original manuals (done using Impression) on floppy but I've no way to upload them sadly :?

Re: Wanted: Alpine Software ALPS & 4thD Cyber Chess

Well, CJE have come up trumps! They found an old Archimedes ALPS package when looking for something else, so I've been able to buy this from them. The package contains the manuals, and what I think was the last version of the ALPS software, version 5.12a from August 1995. I did contact GuitarPhil, ...

Re: Electron disk recovery?

Hi all, The ROM is v3.2 and it seems the Utility Disk software is v1.2 The ROM and Disk are fully compatible, I didn't ever keep the version numbers the same. ALPS for the BBC was 2.x and ALPS for the Elk was 3.x. Utilities disks just got numbered from 1.x  Unfortunately I do not have the use...

If you PM lurkio he can give you my email address. I don't like publishing it on forums!

Re: Electron disk recovery?

Hi Lurkio, I thought I'd already sent you the Electron versions but maybe I hadn't found them before! They obviously require the Electron ALPS ROM package to work and it's a pity the utilities disk the OP has isn't loading but maybe the gurus can fix it :D I still have your address so I can send the...

Hi folks, Although I can't find a copy of the Electron ALPS Utilities Disk I did manage to dig out some documentation which may help decipher which are the required files on the *CAT listing by the OP. Here's a link to a pdf file https://www.dropbox.com/s/ctocmmpuqzmu1bi/Electron%20ALPS%20Doc.pdf?dl...

Re: Omniflop and .adf files

Thanks guys.

It's a bit confusing :? but hopefully the .adl files I've created will work when renamed to .adf. I'm awaiting the VirtualRPC AdjustSA that I ordered last Friday and fingers crossed the 'disk's' will load and run ok [-o<

Omniflop and .adf files

Hi everyone, I have managed to fit my old Windows XP Dell Dimension 9150 with an even older floppy drive and get it working  I've been trying to convert some of my old Archimedes ADFS disks (they're on DSDD floppies) and I've ended up with .adf files which are showing as 400k in XP. Does this...

Cops was the second adventure released under the Alpine Software label and the disk image is archived here http://www.stairwaytohell.com/bbc/archive/diskimages/Alpine/ and here's the hints booklet. If you print the correct pages back to back on A5 paper you can fold it to make an A6 booklet. https:...

I'd like to say thanks to lurkio for resurrecting these old ALPS programs and I hope some of you will try out the games and maybe even have a go with ALPS and produce a wee game or two of your own. When Alpine Software slowly sailed into the west there were a number of very good ALPS adventures bein...
