Re: A3000 CPU, memory and HDMI / USB upgrade...

I love my A3000pi. No actual A3000 was harmed for this, I bought an empty case. http://www.mikecad.com/IMG_1368.jpg http://www.mikecad.com/IMG_1369.jpg http://www.mikecad.com/IMG_1372.jpg http://www.mikecad.com/IMG_1375.jpg http://www.mikecad.com/IMG_1376.jpg Haven't gotten around to installing Risc...

Re: Baildon Electronics IDE Interfaces - Replication

My dream is to have an 8 bit IDE/Ethernet podule. Although I have an internal IDE and an external ethernet, they won't last forever. This is a huge step indeed.

Re: A3000 keyboard connectors and more....

I have my keyboard adapter running, driving a PC at the moment for testing purposes. Just prepped the A3000 case and will hopefully be starting the Pi install tomorrow. Just waiting on a custom back plate for the A3000, to replace the original one with the legacy ports on. Will just have HDMI, Ether...

Re: Risc Develpoments IDE Podule

!IDEFORM crashes out with the number too big error on anything over 2GB so you can't proceed to specify disk parameters. Dividing the cylinders allows the tool to continue into the parameter selections. So 2GB disks and smaller you're fine, no need to do any basic editing. This particular podule onl...

Re: Risc Develpoments IDE Podule

Ha, I'm about 10 months late for this post but I thought I'd wade in, just in case anyone else has this issue. I had the same problem with mine coming up with a number too big error when trying to format. The issue is with the basic code in the !IDEFORM application which is attempting a multiplicati...

Re: ABCLib

Hi Paul, I'd had loads of trouble getting Uniboot onto floppy as I could only write to 720k disks and you seem to lose a few kb on these so none of the premade split zips would fit. In the end someone on the Acorn Facebook group split his version into smaller chunks that I was able to transfer over....

ABCLib

Hi there,

I am trying to see if VZap will work on my A3000 running ROS 3.11 but it needs a version of ABCLIB 4.14 or above. All the links to ABCLIB seem to be down, I have uniboot installed so am presuming my current version of ABCLIB is too old. Does anyone have a copy?

Cheers,

Mike

Re: Running games from hard disk

I had been using 2.09 and switched to 2.20. Much more in the way of success :) In terms of software that requires selection of "boot floppy" in order to run, how do I go about setting up the second floppy disk?

Re: HxC on the A3000 and creating my own images

It was literally to copy application zip files over to the A3000 without having to resort to floppy disks. I figured if I could create a blank image and drop zip files into it on the Mac then I could just convert the ADF, drop it onto the SD card and bingo. My A3000 is in work at the moment and I wo...

Re: Running games from hard disk

I must admit I've not tried ADFFS for ADF files, I had tried it for JFD files but most of them wouldn't even mount citing that the application may have gone wrong. Someone has mentioned an ADPL compilation that included some hard disk installable versions so am looking into that.

HxC on the A3000 and creating my own images

I want to create a blank ADF image and copy some files onto it from a Mac or PC. I created a 720k DOS format image and had the HxC emulator software convert it to the appropriate format. Whilst the A3000 read it, it fails in transferring some of the files. This is consistent like there is something ...

Running games from hard disk

Hi there, On my A3000 I'm trying to get some of my favourite games to run from HDD. E-Type and Chocks Away. Had a look at E-Type and although the !run contains a reference to :0, changing this to my IDE drive and path to the tracks made no difference. I presume things are harder than I'm imagining. ...

The one in the above picture is possibly for SCSI so isn...

Re: BBC A (converted to B) permanent low tone on start up

Instead of relying on the RF on this BBC, I took a wire from the board which fed the BNC video and connected it to a composite video cable. This gives a load of garbage on the screen which changes a couple of times a second and seems to loop. So something is happening, I guess previously the TV just...

Re: BBC A (converted to B) permanent low tone on start up

So the chances are it isn't trying to light up the LED's, there's just a bit of errant voltage going to two of them. I see around 4.9v at the resistors so voltage is good. Back then to the long beep and nothing happening problem :)

Re: BBC A (converted to B) permanent low tone on start up

Well I did the S27 trick, moving it to south and also removing it but I get the same long tone and nothing happening. S9 is now connected too so NMI is behaving as it should. None of the LED's light up so am wondering what kind of voltages I should be seeing on them (in case the LED's are broken). I...

Re: BBC A (converted to B) permanent low tone on start up

BBC A (converted to B) permanent low tone on start up

Hi there, Just got a BBC which has been in storage for decades. Replaced the caps and powered it up and I get a long tone and nothing else seems to happen, no video display etc. The two base ROMS are installed and they are in their correct positions. A logic probe on pin 6 (NMI) of the 6502 shows it...

Re: A3000 on AKF30 Monitor

Thanks all. Everything is now working. I made up a cable as per the A3000 and AKF30 manuals, I was getting terrible sync problems until I read the video manual for the A3000, and noticed that link 24 was in the wrong position. Moved that and everything is beautiful. Now have the HxC floppy drive emu...

Re: A3000 on AKF30 Monitor

So back to the monitor problem, can anyone tell me the pin assignments for an Acorn 9 pin to 9 pin male/female RGB cable? I can find plenty on 9 pin to 15 pin VGA, and 9 pin to SCART but nothing on the pin assignments on the factory shipped cable. Help? :)

Re: A3000 on AKF30 Monitor

Thanks Cliff. I have left it in work over the weekend so my number one hope is that it doesn't regress when I power it up on Monday. When the problems were happening it was as if the machine was re-learning its key and mouse functions. I did put the original flipflop chip back in and there was no ke...
