Put me down for a bare board. Although, I'd prefer it in hamster format if at all possible.

Re: Model B paged ROM breakout board. Interest?

I'd probably be interested in a board if the price is not too high. Would be nice to see the design before committing. Would probably source my own components (but again, price is a factor). As you suggest, even if there is an 80% failure rate on fake ZIFs they are still cheaper.

Re: Model B paged ROM breakout board. Interest?

I bought a cheap Chinese ZIF socket. It took 2 days to fall apart. It was from a very popular eBay vendor. I wouldn't buy anything overly mechanical from China. Paid the premium for a genuine 3M part. Build quality was like chalk and cheese. This is purely my anecdote. Others may have had different ...

How do you plan to enfore this rule? Anyone who spends a whole day in one room only will have their Acorn kit confiscated for one hour and replaced with a ZX81.   Seriously though, I don't imagine any need to enforce it. Just need to remind people that there are two rooms and to try...

Re: ABUG EAST MIDLANDS (Winter Warmer) 17-19 November 2017 (Leicestershire)

For me, the best part of these events is the social/interactive/collaborative stuff. I say that knowing that, at times, I am guilty of having become rather too engrossed in the project I am working on to the detriment of socialising. However, we use the rooms, it is important that we don't divide in...

Sounds like lazarusr is unlikely to be there The plan is that I will be going to VCF Midwest in Chicago the weekend of 9/10 September (where I hope to be showing off my Master 512 and BeebOPL) and to the World Maker Faire in New York the weekend of 25/26 September with general holidaying in between...

Re: Mac Acorn Emulators

I haven't run it for the best part of a year because I have been using the Windows version. So I just downloaded the latest version from your website. When I tried to launch it, it looks like it opens for a fraction of a second and then shuts down again. Can't get beyond that. Running macOS 10.12.3 ...

I run the Windows versions too (albeit in Parallels). I have found the Mac version of BeebEm to be rather buggy.

Re: Proposal: ABUG London and International

There were two things I had hoped to achieve. One was to find a venue that is more readily accessible to those of a more southerly or western disposition. Basingstoke clearly fits that bill. However, I had originally suggested Heathrow in the hope of achieving my second aim, namely attracting some o...

Re: BBC ports to the Atom

Looking in from the front of the Beeb, pin 1 is always in the upper right corner of the connector. So look at the PCB from the edge, pin 1 should be in the row furthest back. So, in short, it looks to me like your PCB is correct. You can, of course, check your schematic against the service manual. B...

Re: BBC ports to the Atom

You ask that people double check the position of the connectors. But I don't understand why that matters. I think my English grammar is lacking here a bit. It's not the position of the connectors whether they are left or right or so but the position that pin 1 is really pin 1. Maybe, the orientatio...

Would that circuit be suitable to connect to the 1mhz bus? Could it be connected to/through the beebOpl? It is possible, but it would have to be somewhat more complex. If it were to sit on the 1MHz Bus, it would have to include address decoding circuitry. If one were going to go to the trouble to d...
