Re: ABUG EAST MIDLANDS (Winter Warmer) 17-19 November 2017 (Leicestershire) BOOKING THREAD

Alex, my only complaint would be that it ended.

Brilliant time. So good to see so many friendly faces and such amazing projects. Once again, I regret being too involved in my own project and not spending enough time with others.

Bring it on again soon please.

Re: ABUG EAST MIDLANDS (Winter Warmer) 17-19 November 2017 (Leicestershire) BOOKING THREAD

Just noticed that they have a Christmas dinner available when we are there. Menu here: https://www.oldenglishinns.co.uk/our-locations/the-fieldhead-hotel-markfield/christmas#tabs. If we wanted to do this on the Saturday night we would have to book a table at a specified time, pay a deposit and pre-o...

Re: Today I received.....

OK. That answers one question, but immediately raises another! Admittedly, it's a question for the designers of PapilioOne. (-8 I have today learnt that this is an absolutely brilliant design. The power pins are laid out symmetrically around the IO pins. If (as I was) you are stupid enough to plug ...

Re: Bladerunner 2049

Good. But nothing like as iconic as the original. Far too linear plot which inevitably ends with an epic fight with the baddie.

OK. That answers one question, but immediately raises another! Admittedly, it's a question for the designers of PapilioOne. (-8 I think there is logic in the design. There are two central continuous rows of pins. Each of these is connected to an FPGA IO pin. There are then sets of four pins which j...

Why the curious staggered arrangement of links?

It’s a connector to a Papilio, an FPGA development board.

Re: Mystery object, fits Econet socket

It seems that the Econet Level 3 fileserver real time clock module was also potted: http://www.cjemicros.co.uk/micros/individual/newprodpages/prodinfo.php?prodcode=ACO-ECONETRTC Maybe this is a Master/Arc equivalent? (Not sure how it would work in place of the Econet module though.) Off topic, but ...

Re: It won't play Crysis.

I have now added an EPROM to the circuit with a very simple program (just a loop that increments X and stores in a non-existent RAM location). I have no I/O, but I could see it running on my knock-off Chinese USB logic analyser.

Re: It won't play Crysis.

Are you using a 65C02? The reason I ask is that I understood the NMOS 6502 could not be clocked at less than 100KHz, because internally it dynamic logic for many of the registers (which rely on charge storage for correct operation). Nope. It's a Rockwell R6502AP to be precise (but I assume all the ...

All it needs is a BASIC ROM?

It’s not the Master Compact Service Manual. It’s actually the RetroClinic version which is only £4.95 new.

Re: Slow OSBGET file access

As explained in the ADUG, on DFS 1.20 a call to OSGBPB to read n bytes simply makes n calls to OSBGET and is therefore essentially pointless.
