If you can come to Central London one evening, I am pretty sure that the scanners at work are A3.

Re: BeebOPL choons

Time for another disc. Once again, this is one of the several music discs that AdLib sold to owners of the AdLib Music Synthesizer Card. This one was 'optimistically' called " Pop/Rock Grooves ". All your 'favourites' are here including Traffix, Visions of Glory and Business Talk. Enjoy it...

I'm very glad I made the effort to attend yesterday. A great day. Great company, lot's of things to see as ever plus a great exhibition. And I solved a bug in my new MIDI player!

Well done to the two Jasons for an amazing feat of organisation.

LUXURY ROOM AVAILABLE IN CAMBRIDGE HOTEL Something has come up that means, sadly, I am now not able to attend. I am completely gutted about this - I haven't missed an ABUG meeting since I joined StarDot. I had booked a prepaid on a no cancel basis, a King Room with Breakfast at the Cambridge Hilton....

Re: May 12th-14th 2017 Cambridge ABUG (FULL) & Acorn World event at CCfCH

There is free parking at the museum. However, it is a small car park and it is likely to be busy because of the event. I think last time we (ABUG folks) boxed ourselves in to the car park behind, as we didn't need to leave by 5pm like the regular visitors. Pretty sure I left my car at the museum ov...

Re: My new project (don't tell Arcardian)

The latest development: https://soundcloud.com/user-469563483/princess-leias-theme This piece really challenges the 6502 code as it keeps changing the 'tempo' during the piece which in turn requires recalculating (with long division) the interrupt rate on the fly. Needless to say, I am no longer har...

Re: My new project (don't tell Arcardian)

It is indeed a Midi file player in 6502 code. It is not too difficult, albeit somewhat more complicated than DRO files. The code I have written is only about 500 bytes long. The specification is here: http://cs.fit.edu/~ryan/cse4051/projects/midi/midi.html. I will share the code soon (I will be work...

Re: Maker Faire UK, Newcastle, Spring 2018

It's a full weekend. Plus we will need to set up on Saturday morning (I don't think there is access on Friday evening) and get our kit out again (" ooh err missus ") on Sunday evening. People will not have to volunteer for the full weekend. But we would really have to be able to cast iron ...

Does anyone have a BeebOPL board that they could bring to Cambridge? I wouldn't mind being able to demo it to passing members of the public from time-to-time and all of mine have been harvested for various other projects. So I don't actually have a working one at the moment.

Re: My new project (don't tell Arcardian)

I have a lot of work I need to get through this weekend and so don't have time to for this project today. Unfortunately, despite not having the time, it seems that ignoring an un-programmed chip in the corner of the room is harder than it seems. So I have ended up writing a quick basic routine to ru...

I'm probably not helping but just in case you haven't seen it, this is from a forum somewhere.... Thanks. Yes, I have seen that before. The problem is I am using DRO files, so they should take care of all that. All I need to be aware of is that OPL3 has an extra register address and make sure that ...

Re: My new project (don't tell Arcardian)

There are two problems - one major, one minor. The minor problem is that the interval timer doesn't generate an interrupt. I don't understand why. It is supposed to work exactly the same as OPL2. But it doesn't. I can live with that though. The major problem is that my OPL3 codes just doesn't work a...

Re: My new project (don't tell Arcardian)

The project is going to be a bit of a slow burn though. There are some things going on at work which are taking up quite a bit of my time. Plus I haven't given up on OPL3 yet which, for some reason, I still can't get to work.

Re: My new project (don't tell Arcardian)

Very early days at the moment. The SAM2695 is a pretty straightforward chip to work with (apart from soldering it to the PCB - 0.4m pitch QFN48!). It has a serial interface (which I am not using) and a parallel interface that is almost identical to the YM3812 - so I am using exactly the same circuit...
