Re: Archimedes Iomega ZIP drivers

I believe OP (for 2018 posts!) said he has an A3010 not an A310. The A3010 does have a bidirectional printer port! I have used my parallel Zip 100 drive as a makeshift HDD in the past, as I didn't have an IDE podule until about six months after I picked up my A3010. I used the original Iomega Zip dr...

Ah! That did it!

Cheers. I was CHAIN "" rather than CHAIN "REPTON2" which is now loading. The wife will be happy!

Any reason why CHAIN "" failed? I haven't had an error on dozens of tapes I've loaded that way!

Repton 2 - Cassette Version - LOCKED

Hello, I've downloaded the WAV for Repton 2 and have recorded it to tape. My method for recording this way is sound as I've made several tapes already with no problem at all. With Repton 2 the tape will load up to "REPTON 2 02 0229" and then errors with the message "Locked" and t...

killer.arc.zip
Remove .zip after download and before transferring to RISC OS. This is an ArcFS/SparkFS ARChive not a zip file.

Full version of Pineapple Virus !Killer circa 1997. You need to change your system clock to mid-1997/98 for this to run. Apart from that it is fully functional, and still the best RISC OS virus killing software out there.

Can anyone link to an Amazon/eBay chamois kit they use for cleaning?

5.25" Drive Cleaning Kit

Hello, Has anyone found a vendor stocking these for a reasonable price? They seem to be extremely rare on eBay - the only kits I could find were in the United States! - and for stupid money. I picked up my 3.5" cleaning kit for about a tenner two years back on eBay. Is this a CJE jobby? Thanks,...

Beebug Spellcheck II v1.20 Manual

Hello, Does anyone have a copy (prefer electronic!) of the manual for the BBC ROM of Beebug's Spellcheck II v1.20? I have the ROM, but I've had to move it down to ROM 12 from 14 as it kept autoloading at power on or Ctrl+Break and I could find no way to exit out of it! Now I have it behaving better,...

Re: Gotek Working on A3000 :))

I still haven't found the balls to solder a pin header strip onto the jumper settings holes so I can access the dev mode for uploading. I've also got one of those serial TTL to USB tools as I thought you could mod the firmware without soldering using this, but I just can't seem to figure out if it's...

Indeed, but to see that given all we've learnt in the past 20 years about how rare Acorn kit gets. Tis a sad sight - Bletchley Park or The Centre for Computing History would have loved to take this in.

Re: Would like to borrow: Hydra controller card

All you've done is deprived yourself of any potential income from selling it. Of course it was never going to be worth £3000 as it's totally impractical without OS multi CPU support and a StrongARM out performing it, but it was a very rare piece of ARM/RISC OS history that has now been lost. If this...

Found a minor niggle with ADFS v3.29 on RISC OS 3.71 - formatting a 1.6MB floppy works, but it pauses several times at the beginning before continuing on.

Mine has no jumpers. Just the empty holes.

How do I bridge the jumpers on the GoTech to allow USB flashing?

Would a paperclip do it?! I have the metal bridges that Mark at RetroClinic provided with my 1770 DFS BBC interface which I have not yet installed. Will they work to allow flashing?!

Softload 3.71 over 3.70

Don't ask why! I've been trying to softload 3.71 over 3.70 on my RISC PC. No joy at all. The softload tool that comes with 4.02 (and JASPPS multi-OS softload) loads the ROMs, then reboots and loads the ROMs again, and reboots ad infinitum. The later versions from 4.29/4.39 and 5.22 just internal err...

Will a USB 3.0 A cable work the same as a USB 1/2 A cable?

I know in some circumstances USB 2 devices cannot accept USB 3 devices due to the increased voltage.
