RISC PC (Issue 1) will not play nice with any Podules (apart from a NIC in the NIC slot)

<<Cross Posted from the Acorn Facebook group>> Help! Any ideas what is wrong with my RISC PC? Any podule I use is never detected correctly. I've had two ScanLight podules, a ScanLight with Video 256 podule and a Morely 16-bit SCSI podule. All of them appear as seen in the screenshot via *Podules. I'...

Re: Impression Publisher

Crap, sorry Jon I complete forgot.

Do you still want my copies of !Publisher, !Style, !Impress II and !Impress anyway?

I'd be interested if you can hack the !Publisher re-register BASIC tool for !Style to use!

I'll send you a PM soon. I have a dev version of Publisher, a retail version of Publisher (both with a BASIC hex file that allows you to change the registered user name). I have an older version of Style, a no-key version of Impression II and a dongle required full software package (boxes, manuals e...

RPC - SCSI !Boot rather than IDE

Hi Folks, I was lucky enough to pick up the extremely cheap SCSI podule on eBay (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acorn-Cumana-SCSI-interface/172971931093?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649) I assume with SCSIFS and CDFS on ROM I can stop using the onboard IDE interface now for...

Re: Stunt Racer 2000 frame rate

Hi Jon, I've found I have three distinct versions of Stunt Racer 2000! I've got so many archives and disc images that I've collected over the years a lot of them aren't well titled. I have v1.00 on my original pukka floppy discs. This doesn't work on my RISC PC at all. I have v1.10 on ADF images fro...

Re: Copying large files with RISC OS 3.70

Found a minor niggle with ADFS v3.29 on RISC OS 3.71 - formatting a 1.6MB floppy works, but it pauses several times at the beginning before continuing on.

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

Mine has no jumpers. Just the empty holes.

I assume this is why it was so cheap, and therefore is totally worthless?

I have a serial programmer on order, but it's coming from China.

I assume unlike a Pi Zero it doesn't emulate co-processors?

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

How do I bridge the jumpers on the GoTech to allow USB flashing?

Would a paperclip do it?! I have the metal bridges that Mark at RetroClinic provided with my 1770 DFS BBC interface which I have not yet installed. Will they work to allow flashing?!

Awesome! Thanking you.

Had to fiddle with *SHareFS under Boot:Choices to add an OS check otherwise !Boot will always load ShareFS+ 3.44 which dies on RISC OS 3.7x.

Softload 3.71 over 3.70

Don't ask why! I've been trying to softload 3.71 over 3.70 on my RISC PC. No joy at all. The softload tool that comes with 4.02 (and JASPPS multi-OS softload) loads the ROMs, then reboots and loads the ROMs again, and reboots ad infinitum. The later versions from 4.29/4.39 and 5.22 just internal err...

Great, got one coming tomorrow via Amazon Prime Now. Wonderful service! Seen on some Apple ][ forums - would this work for writing ADFS floppies on a PC without a floppy controller on board? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16821104104&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Ju...

Re: Open source firmware for Gotek floppy emulator released

Will a USB 3.0 A cable work the same as a USB 1/2 A cable?

I know in some circumstances USB 2 devices cannot accept USB 3 devices due to the increased voltage.

Re: RPC dead

Unplug it from the mains and wait an hour. Try again after that. Also sniff the IEC to see if it smells of burning. Try a known working kettle lead as well.

My RISC PC just died a few weeks ago. No power from the button, no sound and no fan. I left it an hour and BOOM back working again!

Does the 32bit module/drivers from ROOL still work on 26-bit RISC OS (3.70/4.02)?

I've been softloading 5.20 over 3.70 just for the hell of it, and the NIC obviously doesn't work.

What happened to 3QD threatening legal action over hosting this stuff, using a big stick and the vague notion they possibly own the full rights to RISC OS, but not all of it etc.

From the mid-2000's PC shifter relaunch I got one of those snazzy Acorn branded ATA/USB2 external hard drives.

I think RISC OS Bits has a stock and is shifting them (for quite a sum)

Re: 10base-2 crossover?

I can't do the A3010 HDD mod as it's an Adelaide not an ARM250! That doesn't stop you doing the HDD modification, in fact it should be slightly easier, as the Adelaide board pins are easier to solder onto... The important ide controller IC24 (82c711) is still present, so you 'just' need to tap into...
