Legendary Speccy Assembler written for Windows

Hi All, I've just read this on a fb group Z80 Assembly Programming On The ZX Spectrum 8) Apparently they've developed a version of Zeus legendary Spectrum Assembler for the Windows platform. The developer, Simon, also adds an IDE to this version, plus an integrated emulator. I thought with so much i...

Wonder why M$ now don't let you turn off auto updates, as previous windows you could, hence why my winXP desktop is always on the ready. You can it's just hidden from the User. The same option to configure or more how updates are done is available using the Local Group Policy Editor :- https://www....

Re: New adventure game and BASIC framework (don’t expect a new Ravenswood)

Graphic are not on my radar - I would not know where to start! Hopefully I will be able to shrink the main program down and speed it up by replacing some of the stuff with machine code. That way if someone wanted to add graphics they could run it in a mode where that is possible... Might well be wo...

It sounds very interesting this system of yours. I was hoping to do a PAW for the BBC Micro myself, with graphics similar to TKV. Yours seems like it's got some of the right stuff and it's going the right way, I hope you do well LardoBoffin

Re: New version of Centipede for the BBC Micro (in progress)

Some disk filing systems let you use star commands as shorthand for loading and running programs with *RUN. So *CENTI would work if CENTI was on a DFS disk, but not if it was on a cassette. I don't know what the underlying mechanism is for this. Perhaps someone will explain it to us. :) Cheers, dav...

Re: New version of Centipede for the BBC Micro (in progress)

DFS and ADFS check for filing-system specific commands such as *ACCESS . Then, if it's not one of those, they behave as though you'd typed *RUN FOO. NFS natively recognises a tiny handful of commands like *I AM and *BYE (is that the lot?). Other commands, it passes to the fileserver, which can impl...

The star command version only works with things like ROMs and disks, not tapes.

I'm sorry my BBC ROM dyslexia is pretty poor I understood that you could only run * commands on things that were setup to run these commands in (loaded) ROMs? :?

Something like Wordwise Plus would write the code for websites - HTML, CSS, ASP, JSP, PHP, you name it. All is needed is a text editor. Damn  now I'm beginning to regret I threw away that WordWise ROM although to be fair my system is all IFEL / ROM / RAM board based so I think I would need an...

Would it be possible to build website on a BBC Micro?

Hi, Just one of my stupid maybe not so daft ideas I dunno!? Can you use the BBC Micro to actually code websites to then transfer the code to a modern PC for display? i.e can you use the built-in BASIC editor to edit the code with? 'cause if you think about it the web sort of started on a BBC Micro, ...
